All Things:Science Fiction/Fantasy

Was really looking forward to this. Was. Sorry, but Mila Kunis just don't do it for me. I think there is a reason why they keep her pretty quiet during this trailer. Looks a little...meh. Sean Bean though. Wonder how he will die in this one.

I wish John Travolta and man animals were in it

My thoughts...it certainly looks like a journey to fort kickass. I think that Edwards is bringing that cool 'humanity detached from the face of something that cannot be fathomed by our tiny brains' quality that Monsters had. Looks heavy. And Godzilla looks pretty damned skippy(that still was misrepresentative). VERY excited for this one.

And why the Cloverfield hate. I actually dig that movie and think it's probably gonna be close in spirit to what this Godzilla flick is going to shoot for.

As for Jupiter Ascending, I have yet to see a Wachowski flick I did not like, but this one looks a little more mainstream than I was expecting. I guess when you have Tatum/Kunis as the leads the studios want something a little more palatable for the masses. Mind you, I am likely reading too much into a 2 minute trailer, so we shall see.

Bryan Cranston leads the fight as the Godzilla trailer comes stomping online

But for now, this first official trailer for the film is pure tease, and smartly handled. In particular, I love the way it starts. What I want most from this film is some sense of the awe we would feel if giant monsters suddenly woke up and started roaming the Earth, and it feels like they may have nailed that. Edwards wasn't the immediate choice to helm this film if you're just going by box-office accomplishments, but anyone who saw "Monsters" knows that he's very good at finding quiet moments even amidst chaos and mayhem.

Wisely, this first trailer focuses on the human beings who are going to be the focus of the film, and the hardest part of making a Godzilla movie is figuring out what the balance is supposed to be between humans and monster action. As much as I loved the Godzilla films when I was a kid, when I see them these days while my kids watch and re-watch them, I am struck by how little time is actually spent with the giant monsters. Even so, that shot from above as they're plummeting towards him makes me feel awe towards the character for the first time as an adult. Finally, he looks the way he looked in my imagination as a kid, majestic and terrifying, a primal force of nature unleashed.

Ultimately, if they get the human story right and they make it genuinely compelling while also offering us a very real glimpse of what it would look like to live in a world like this, then the sky's the limit for how big the film can be. We have to be able to relate to it, and he's certainly got a cast that is capable of that. Here's hoping the script came together during the shoot and that Edwards is able to bring the tone of that sensational earlier sizzle reel for the film to the actual feature.

Spot on analysis.

Jupiter Ascending trailer was a little random. It's hard to tell what to expect from the movie. Maybe that means that the movie is not as direct and mainstream jerseydevil suspects; or maybe it just means the trailer itself lacks structure.

Godzilla looks great, I think, but instead of the dramatic lack of music that doesn't quite work, they should have busted out into the Godzilla march song. Go ahead and use the roar, use the song. Not every single thing has to be re-done. In fact, either of those sounds always make my heart skip a beat in joyous anticipation.

Saw the Godzilla trailer and am not impressed. I DEMAND more Rubber Suit Godzilla stomping through model towns and less crappy American Actors. Also, I demand new young, hot Mothra twins. MONKEY HAS SPOKEN!

Cloverfield is actually pretty decent but I thought the trailer promised more than the movie ultimately delivered. This trailer looks spectacular and I want the movie to live up to that, basically if Godzilla doesn't turn out better than Cloverfield I'll be disappointed.

First Look At Johnny Depp In Wally Pfister's 'Transcendence' Plus Official Synopsis | The Playlist

Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is the foremost researcher in the field of Artificial Intelligence, working to create a sentient machine that combines the collective intelligence of everything ever known with the full range of human emotions. His highly controversial experiments have made him famous, but they have also made him the prime target of anti-technology extremists who will do whatever it takes to stop him.

However, in their attempt to destroy Will, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed—to be a participant in his own transcendence. For his wife Evelyn (Rebecca Hall) and best friend Max Waters (Paul Bettany), both fellow researchers, the question is not if they can…but if they should.

Their worst fears are realized as Will’s thirst for knowledge evolves into a seemingly omnipresent quest for power, to what end is unknown. The only thing that is becoming terrifyingly clear is there may be no way to stop him.

Intrigued? Co-starring Rebecca Hall, Kate Mara, Paul Bettany, Morgan Freeman and Cillian Murphy, this one arrives on April 18, 2014, which means a trailer any day now.

Very curious about this. Pfister is a hell of a cinematographer and it'll be interesting to see if he can direct as well.

Samuel L. Jackson in Talks for David Yates Tarzan

Warner Bros.’ big screen adaptation of Tarzan is back on in a big way. Though the project was initially planned as Harry Potter director David Yates’ follow-up to Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the studio put the brakes on the film due to budget concerns earlier this year. Apparently all parties came to an agreement, as movement picked up again a few months ago with Christoph Waltz entering talks to star as the villain opposite Alexander Skarsgard, who will play the titular Tarzan. Now Variety reports that Samuel L. Jackson is in talks to co-star with Skarsgard and adds that Waltz’s deal has closed.

Jackson was first linked to Tarzan over a year ago, when he was being eyed for the role of a Civil War veteran eager to redeem himself for his part in the massacre of Native Americans. No word if that’s still the role Jackson will be playing, but Variety also notes that The Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie is now the top choice to play Jane. With the project heating up, expect to hear more casting news soon.

Need to replace the Godzilla with a Rubber suit Godzilla and it would sweep all the awards. Still looks like a good flick.

Now, I want more Gamera movies!

I know its Tom FOOs, but it still looks pretty good. Nice panel @ SDCC 2013.

Credit where it's due, Cruise has made a lot of good movies in the last decade or so. Maybe not enough to make up for all his crazy, but... seeing him attached to an action picture is actually a good thing nowadays.

Yeah...he is a really good actor. I agree. But I cannot get Kq to see anything with him just because he is such an oddity. He has that armpit stench that folks associate with Nic Cage these days.
