20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Remake May Shoot in Early 2015

I’m selfishly hoping that Disney and Fincher came to some agreement that would see him back onboard 20,000 Leagues (I’m dying to see what Fincher can do with an adventure story told on a massive scale), but that may be too optimistic. What’s more likely is that Disney is moving ahead on a new iteration of the project without Fincher’s involvement. From a business perspective, it makes sense that Disney would want to capitalize on the 20,000 Leagues brand and Australia tax incentive with or without Fincher, so I’m very curious to see where things go from here. Hopefully more light is shed on this situation soon.

Automata Trailer: Antonio Banderas Faces a Robot Uprising

Millennium Entertainment has released the first Automata trailer for director Gabe Ib??ez’s upcoming sci-fi thriller. The I, Robot-esque story takes place in the year 2044 where robots are ubiquitous and operate under two fundamental laws that prevent them from harming humans or themselves. Antonio Banderas plays an insurance agent of the ROC robotic corporation who discovers that the robots may be more human than people are led to believe. Though we’ve seen this story many times before, the film actually looks quite good. Dylan McDermott fills the role of the robot-hating human, while Ib??ez imbues the picture with a washed out aesthetic reminiscent of Blade Runner that reflects the dire nature of humanity.
Hit the jump to watch the Automata trailer. The film also stars Melanie Griffith and will be released in theaters and VOD on October 10th.

Watch the GODZILLA Final Battle and the Power of Atomic Breath

Odd that they would put the best part of the movie up for grabs. I am so buying the damned thing when it hits the streets and so should you. Upon reflection, was it perfect? Nope. But it was perfect enough to reassure me that the franchise is in the right hands. And with Toho letting Edwards/Legendary open up the sandbox, they seem to feel the same way. Buy this to show that you want MORE!!!!!!!!!!!

Outcast Trailer Features Nicolas Cage Attempting a British Accent

In Nicolas Cage‘s long, glorious, and bizarre filmography, Outcast could be more than a minor curiosity. The directorial debut of Nick Powell (stunt coordinator on Resident Evil: Retribution), Outcast takes place during the Crusades, and Cage plays Gallain, a rebellious outlaw who teams up with Arken (Hayden Christensen, who, to my surprise, is still in the acting business), a young man looking for redemption by protecting the rightful heir to the Chinese throne. If you needed more proof of China’s growing power in the global film market, look to Outcast. First Cage; tomorrow: THE WORLD. But in the meantime, they only have Cage, or, more specifically, Cage trying to do a British accent, which is about as wonderful as you’d expect.

Video removed, so maybe not official?

Anyway, I really liked 2014 Godzilla. I felt like maybe some of the choices could be questioned, but the execution of the choices that were made was impressive. I'm definitely adding this to the Godzilla collection; but, honestly, I would have added it to the Godzilla collection even if it were terrible.

Vin Diesel Shares Very First The Last Witch Hunter Image

Vin Diesel, Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood and Michael Caine in a Breck Eisner film? I’m in! When news first broke that Summit Entertainment snatched up Cory Goodman’s The Last Witch Hunter pitch in a mid-six figure acquisition, it did catch my eye, but the premise alone wasn’t enough to spark much interest. However, as the creative team started to come together, things changed big time.
Diesel is set to play an immortal witch hunter who’s forced to team up with his chief adversary, a female witch, in order to stop the evil covens of New York City from unleashing a plague and decimating humanity. The project just went into production and Diesel opted to celebrate by sharing the very first photo from the film. Hit the jump to check out The Last Witch Hunter image.
The idea isn’t much on its own, but when you picture Diesel in the lead role, and perhaps Leslie as that female witch, this things sounds like it could be a real blast. Perhaps it’s just because the titles sound a bit similar, but I’ve got my fingers crossed Eisner is running with a similar tone to Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters with this.
Here’s the official brief synopsis for The Last Witch Hunter:
In THE LAST WITCH HUNTER, an immortal witch hunter (Diesel) partners with his natural enemy, a female witch, to stop the covens of NYC from unleashing a plague on humanity
