All Things:Science Fiction/Fantasy

Am I the only one who feels kind of cold/indifferent towards this? Brad Bird is a genius, the cast is good, it's a sci film about Disneyland...I really should care more about this.

No I am very excited to see this. Finally a longer trailer to get even more excited about.

Your stance mirrors mine pretty much exactly. To be fair, I do think (or at least greatly hope) the movie is probably going to be better than this safe, bland marketing.

Solid cast and the chick who directed that Iranian vampire flick...ok, let's see what happens.

EDIT:Just read that it is a cannibal/western love story. Ok...interest rising.

Now Joshua Hale Fialkov Jumps On Pacific Rim Comic - And You Can Win!

Legendary Comics are producing another comic book series based on their Pacific Rim movie with a story from its writer, Travis Beacham, transformed into a four issue series by Joshua Hale Fialkov and Marcos Marz. And they are launching it with a special competition to win original art from the series...

I have no idea why, but I am actually down with that. If they do it right, it could actually be awesome. Just make the transformations seem realistic and mechanical, and not extreme CGI fakery like certain crapsterpieces involving ummm transformations.

The most important thing, though, is NO MINMEI SINGING.

On the other hand, symphonic metal cover of the theme song.

Except that her character's music is integral to the story so that you can't leave it out.

I suppose if they made it less awful...

I actually want to see the third part, with the Invid, more than the first part. It really had the best storyline and assuming they have to chop each part into multiple movies, it would be the cheapest, with only the prologue being in space.

The most important thing will be casting the right actor for the most important character - Max Sterling.

Yeah. Get a better vocalist. The voice of Minmay in the Japanese-language Macross was Mari Iijima, and her voice is amazing.

Casting in general is touchy for this, as many of the characters have lasting roles throughout the three sagas. Can't think of any mainstream actors that I'd like to see as the main characters, either.
