All Things: TELEVISON

Watched the first 2 eps of s2 and things are verrrrry interesting. Glad you two are jumping in. I swear I have watched season 1 like 6 times already. It's a terrific show with great characters and lots of pirate politics. And, oh yeah...it's freaking beautiful to look at. Kingsqueen got tired of me waxing about it so I got her caught up. Keep watching.

Season 2 has been DAMN GOOD so far. I've watched each episode multiple times already. Love this show.

Gonna go over to the television thread and respond...come with me guys!!!!

You got it, mister!

Yeah I'm down to the last episode of the first season and I'll most certainly be caught up in a few days. Good show!

But where were ya when I was singing the praises of this show during it's initial run????

Well you clearly didn't do a good enough job, did you?!

Nah I drag my feet on these things all the time. I rarely pick up new shows to watch but I'm glad I did this time. Finished season 1 and **** me.

Weekend TV Ratings: Dips and Dives Across the Board, Except for CONSTANTINE
http://collider.com/weekend-tv-ratings-constantine/

Read this morning that if NBC does not pick up Constantine it could be headed for SciFi where it's current rating would be fantastic. Further speculation was that if it did jump, they might rename it Hellblazer, which NBC was not keen on. BUT, the wild card is...they may not be terrific numbers, but NBC can and generally is doing worse. So...who knows. Still haven't watched simply because it looks more 'NEW 52' than Vertigo.

It completely is, but... it's not bad. I've watched 5 or 6 episodes and have the rest on the DVR. Not in any hurry to get to them, but I will eventually.

Jon Stewart Leaving THE DAILY SHOW
http://collider.com/jon-stewart-leaving-the-daily-show/

Oooof Comedy Central getting HIT. First Colbert and now Stewart. And they lost Jon Oliver to HBO. I don't know what the buzz is on the guy who replaced Colbert, but he seems to be trying a little too hard from what I have seen. Comedy Central is notoriously cheap, even though Stewart has said time and again it isn't about money. The little cottage industry they spawned is walking out the door.

Super depressing. I've been watching him on that show since he came on.

There are some good correspondents still working at The Daily Show (Jessica Williams, Aasif Mandvi), but I don't know that any of them are suited for taking over. I've only watched a couple of the Larry Wilmore show and I was pretty underwhelmed. I hear the ratings have been similarly underwhelming.

Comedy Central is in deep ****.

All caught up with Black Sails. Show was good from the start but the end of season 1 and now the first couple of episodes of season 2 were all phenomenal.

Some thoughts, spoilers incoming:

* My favorite moment so far is when the Spanish Man-of-War opens fire, holy hell.
* I find John Silver very hard to like, I guess maybe I'm supposed to. I was wishing death upon him for most of the first season but at least he's starting to pull his weight by saving Captain Flint's ass.
* Speaking of Captain Flint, he's really walking the line a la Walter White or Tony Soprano. You hope for him to succeed then he does something that makes you start to wonder why you even like the guy.
* Captain Vane is going in an opposite trajectory, he started out as a villain and is now one of the most likable characters on the show. Go Captain Vane!
* If you made a drinking game based on Bonny scowling or muttering something angrily with her hat pulled over her face you'd be hammered quick. I find her character pretty comical and very hard to take seriously, it's just too ridiculous.
* The only thing as good as Max's behind is her front. Lord have mercy.

Kirkman And Azaceta’s Outcast Gets Series Order From Cinemax

The Robert Kirkman / Paul Azaceta comic book series Outcast has gotten a 10 episode order from Cinemax. The network acquired the script and gave a pilot order in July. Kirkman, along with Chris Black and Fox International Channels are producing.

Outcast tells the story of Kyle Barnes, played by Patrick Fugit in the pilot, a man plagued by demonic possessions his whole life. Barnes teams with Reverend Anderson (Philip Glenister), a man with demons of his own, to try and find answers and get Barnes back to a normal life. What they discover is far bigger than they expect… and could change the world.

Both Agent Carter and 12 Monkeys keep getting better and better with each episode, after each starting at 'nothing special'. Loved me the ending of the most recent episode of Elementary, which continues to be the only drama on the standard networks I rate an A. I have also been enjoying the Asian Sitcom Family show (its actual name makes no sense since the family moved to Florida from DC). The parents are delightful and I would not be surprised if the mother gets nominated for awards, because she is awesome. I hope Ray Wise is a recurring character.
The most amazing thing I saw this weekend, though, was Fish Mooney making a positive contribution to tonight's episode of Gotham, and quite a positive one at that. If the show is going to have every single future Batman villain appear, I hope they are able to keep bringing each of the 50 actors back whenever they need them.
