‘@Midnight’ Promoted Stand-Up Comedy Like No One Else In The Era Of Peak TV
http://uproxx.com/tv/midnight-stand-up-comedy-peak-tv/

Final episode aired last night. You could see it in the cards over the last few months. Hardwick clearly was feeling the pressure of hosting 70 shows and this one was 4x a week so...easy choice to make. The writing seemed to be on the wall when Steel Panther, or the cast of the Magicians were the panels. I will miss it. Always good for laughs. At least it introduced me to folks like Flula Borg, Steve Agee, Ron Funches and many more. Rest in Peace @MIDNIGHT.

Last night was Kirkman, Flula and that other guy. I think there's a final show at Midnight tonight on Comedy Central, the grand finale?

I imagine Funches will be there. And 100% agree on Steve Agee. I didn't really know much about him but that guy has me on the floor laughing.

Also last night laughed at one of the answers to the "things heard backstage at @midnight" game: "Why couldn't this show have continued.......with a different host"

Hardwick seemed to get a kick out of that one

‘Damnation’ Trailer Unleashes USA’s Bloody, Depression-Era Series
http://collider.com/damnation-trailer/

Here’s the official synopsis:

An epic saga about the secret history of the 1930s American heartland, DAMNATION centers on the mythic conflict and bloody struggle between big money and the downtrodden, God and greed, charlatans and prophets. The pilot introduces Seth Davenport (Killian Scott, “71”), a man masquerading as a small town Iowa preacher in the hopes of starting a full-blown insurrection against the status quo. Focused on his mission, he is unaware that an industrialist tycoon has hired a professional strikebreaker named Creeley Turner (Logan Marshall-Green, “Quarry”) to stop the uprising by any means necessary. But unbeknownst to those around them, these two men already share a secret bloody past. From executive producers Tony Tost (“Longmire”), James Mangold (“Logan”), and Guymon Casady (“Game of Thrones”) and Daniel Rappaport (“Office Space”) on behalf of Entertainment 360, the pilot was written and created by Tost and directed by and executive produced by David MacKenzie (Oscar Nominated “Hell or High Water”). Universal Cable Productions co-produces the series with Netflix who will have first-run rights to the series outside of the U.S.

‘The Orville’ Review: Seth MacFarlane Plays It Safe in His Egregious ‘Star Trek’ Rip-Off
http://collider.com/the-orville-review/#images

Take this with a grain of salt. There is always gonna be MacFarlane bashing...and I can read a lot of it between the lines here. Doesn't look like any more a Star Trek rip off than the countless Star Trek reboots and spinoffs.

Seth MacFarlane’s ‘The Orville’ Isn’t A ‘Star Trek’ Spoof. It’s Just Bad ‘Star Trek’
http://uproxx.com/sepinwall/the-orville-review-seth-macfarlane/

Then again...

just watched "The Orville" and loved it. It's not a Star Trek spoof. It's GREAT Star Trek. Star Trek if people talked like normal human beings talk. And have a sense of humor once in awhile. I did not read the above review, but the review I had read led me to believe I wasn't going to like the show. I was wrong. Now, I'll admit not a LOT happened in this first episode, but the show is clearly more focused on relationships than the action, and that's what I loved about it.

Note: since I love it, it will most likely be cancelled in about 5 episodes.

Season 2 of "Top of the Lake" has premiered on The Sundance Channel. I haven't seen it yet, but Season 1 was terrific, with Elizabeth Moss being her usual great self. Season 2 is getting pretty good reviews (although not as good as Season 1), so worth checking out.
