Community picked up right where they left off last night. Love that show to death. Too bad people are missing out by watching Big Bang Theory instead. -_-
 
Jonathan Banks Joins NBC Pilot 'Bloodline' - Deadline.com

Another Breaking Bad player is getting a pilot. Jonathan Banks has been cast in the NBC drama pilot Bloodline, written by David Graziano and directed by Peter Berg. It is about Bird, an orphaned young girl caught in the struggle between two warring families of mercenaries and killers. Mentored by a Chinese man, Bird has to accept the quest to find and defeat her mother in mortal combat if she is to ever lead a normal life. Banks will play Leo, Bird’s maternal grandfather who decides to abandon her as an infant. A long descendant of Greek hitmen, he owns a hitman company full of long-lost relatives.

I don't get it.

I love Community. I don't watch The Big Bang Theory.... but I did for a while... I don't see them as ideological adversaries in anyway.

Someone explain.
 
I just have never been able to watch Community. Joel whatshisname has that same quality as Bradley Cooper...you just want to punch him in his smug face. And Big Bang Theory is insincere. It's pre-packaged Geek culture with all the hard corners sanded off. It's the Olivia Munn of Geek.

They're not. I'm just personally annoyed at how they keep getting massive ratings "just because". Either something is wrong with me or it says a lot about the American audience and their taste in general. Hate seeing all these really good shows not having a chance because no one would give it a chance.

I'm just waiting for an hour long show about people dropping trow and dumping hot steamers on the LA pavement. It would have to be the intellectual equivalent of what is being turned out on over-the-air network television these days. There are certainly a few tolerable exceptions across the board, of varying degrees of non-suckitude. But by and large, it seems that the corporate network brain trusts have completely run out of enough steam to fill a 3-hour prime-time window of broadcasting original material any longer.

Or, maybe they ran out of ideas a long time ago, and I'm just now noticing......

I watched the pilot when it aired and I thought "Wellllllllllllllllllllll **** THAT show" and then never watched another episode for three years. Then I kept hearing people talk about how good it was so I committed myself to watching it past the pilot episode.

I rewatched the pilot, swallowed my complaints.... and then by the 4th or 5th episode of the first season I was so completely in love with the show and it's characters.

Community is awesome. It's just a shame it had such a bland start.
 
It's Official: NBCU To Rebrand G4 As Esquire Network In Partnership With Hearst - Deadline.com

Esquire Network plans to expand on G4’s foundation of games, gear and gadgets. Program categories and genres will feature not only gaming and technology but also entertainment, food, fashion, women, humor, travel, competition, danger and more. Esquire’s unscripted projects in development include Knife Fight, executive produced by Drew Barrymore, Flower Films and Authentic Entertainment. Hosted by Top Chef winner Ilan Hall, Knife Fight is an underground, after-hours cooking competition where talented chefs go head to head in front of a rowdy crowd of celebrities, critics and die-hard foodies. Another original series, The Getaway (working title), is executive produced by Anthony Bourdain and Zero Point Zero and features travel-loving, well-known personalities — people deservedly famous for excellence in their fields — who take viewers to their favorite city on the planet, giving the insiders’ track on their top spots to eat, drink, shop and hang out. “There is a vastly under-served audience in cable TV — today’s modern man — and by joining forces with Esquire, we will deliver a multi-platform experience to this upscale, engaged, passionate audience, one that widens the aperture beyond G4’s technology and gaming base,” Stotsky said. “Esquire magazine brings 80 years of unparalleled insight into what makes men tick, and we will incorporate the best of this iconic brand to produce original shows that build the network for growth and success.”

NBCU decided to go with an upscale makeover for G4 after overtures from the likes of UFC and WWE to take a controlling stake in the channel last year fell through. A deal for G4 would reunite NBCU and Hearst, which were co-owners of A+E Networks until NBCU cashed its stake last July. Hearst’s cable holdings include stakes in A+E’s A&E, Lifetime and History, as well as ESPN. As part of G4′s evolution from a gaming/tech channel (as part of Comcast, it was merged with TechTV in 2004) to a more upscale, sophisticated network, G4 announced in October that it is cancelling long-running series Attack Of The Show! and X-Play.

Rebranding G4 fits into the strategy of NBCU cable maven Bonnie Hammer, who added control of E! and G4 after the Comcast-NBC Universal merger. E! has already changed its look and logo and is undergoing a makeover towards more sophisticated programming, including adding scripted series. Hammer’s first major move at G4 was the hire of former NBC marketing chief Adam Stotsky as general manger in January 2012.

When they finally put this show on Netflix/hulu plus I swear to watch, but for those of you who love the show...New SouthLand tonight.
 
I love me some Southland, even though I let it pile up on my DVR and still have to watch last season's finale. It's a cop show that is remotely realistic, with all the amusing little bits of the officers talking crap to each other in between the everyday policing. And a lot of the cases end on down notes, which is rare for network television. No wonder NBC jettisoned it.
