All Things: TELEVISON

Glad Chicago Fire got a full season.

Poor Last Resort... =[ Oh well.. I'll continue to watch it until it's canceled.

Last Resort, 666 Park Avenue wont get full seasons on ABC

ABC has elected not to give back-nine orders to the freshman dramas "Last Resort" and "666 Park Avenue."

The network confirms to HitFix that neither show will get full season orders, but ABC isn't officially using the "c" word for either show.

Both "Last Resort" and "666 Park Avenue" will air their full compliment of 13 episodes, hence ABC's preference not to refer to either show as "cancelled."

A good comparison would be last season's "Pan Am," which aired all of its original 13 episodes, plus a bonus episode, but wasn't picked up for a back-nine. ABC refused to call "Pan Am" officially cancelled even after that run of episodes was completed, even if that was both the general assumption and the final verdict.

So "Last Resort" and "666 Park Avenue" will air their 13 episodes and you can still hold out hope, but neither show will get 22 episodes and your hope may be slightly [but perhaps not entirely] futile. Neither drama has completed production on their final episodes, so the producers should/could theoretically have the ability to tailor their conclusions accordingly.

This isn't a shocking verdict for either show.

Damn... really sucks. Last Resort is solid. Just a terrible time slot. I was hoping that they would move it to another night and see how it fared. Now it's probably too late.

TC that show was WAAAAAYYYYY to high concept to stand a chance on network. May have survived a bit longer on cable...but it was a hard sell either way. 666 is the bigger surprise. Couldn't have had a better timeslot. Maybe middle america is only ready to hear 666 unless they are talking about the President...but yeah, that is the one execs will be scratching their heads over.

I like 666.

Last Resort was doomed from before someone thought of it.

Pretty much spot on...but I still admire that not only did someone think it was a good idea...their enthusiasm was enough to convince notoriously conservative networks. Fight the power!!!!!

Im a fan of 666 too.

Has anyone watched Wedding Band on TBS, it could be because I am usually a wee bit intoxicated when I watch it but I find it really fun.

Watched an episode last night after coming home fairly late...

I liked it.

Is the 10 episode contract a whole season or just partial. 10 ep season would be a good idea for that kind of show.

No, I think that's gonna be a trial balloon for more expensive scripted shows. Small start and they either renew, maybe for a quick back 9, or another 10 the next season...or they just skip it. I think the 10 eps qualifies for 'packaging' benefits...meaning it's the minimum for a dvd release of...'the complete series'.

Does that mean they can bring Dan Harmon back on board?

Chevy Chase is such a jagoff - he should be overwhelmingly thankful for Community - it allowed him to be funny for the first time in two decades.
