All Things: TELEVISON

Married With Children school of thought....controversy creates ratings.

Of course we are in a new age...

The last time a show tried that it was that one with Chi McBride, the Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer(go ahead, look it up) and they almost burnt the station to the ground they pulled that one so fast.

excellent comments on that article :24smile:

I for one like my comedy to be racist so i will be watching this one

As I am watching the few random summer programs I am watching, I am bombarded with commercials for the upcoming fall shows. I don't think there is a single comedy that looks like I would rate it any better than completely awful. Half of them just amaze me that they were even greenlighted to begin with.

RAMBO TV Series in the Works; Sylvester Stallone May Reprise Role | Collider

While Sylvester Stallone resurrected the Rambo franchise in 2008 with a new film, movement on a fifth Rambo feature has been fairly slow. Stallone has teased that the next feature would either be in the vein of Unforgiven or a “passing of the torch” to a new lead character, but now it appears that Rambo might live on in a different medium. THR reports that Entertainment One and Nu Image are developing a TV series iteration of Rambo, and Stallone is currently in negotiations to be involved with the project “on a creative level.” Moreover, Stallone might potentially star in the show in a reprisal of his Rambo role.

I actually have hopes for that Andy Samberg Brooklyn 9-9 program if for nothing other than to see Andre Braugher in a comedy. But yeah, tv has been a comedy wasteland for years now. It's all lowest common denominator with a laff track stuff.

Fixed.

well yeah...Fx has some of the best non-traditional comedies going. That's the key though. Nobody wants Two And a 1/2 New Girls with middle of the road ie:safe jokes and a gawdaful laff track telling them it's ok to react. Well, waitaminnit, that's the problem. A lot of people seem to want that. Ugh it sickens me.

Have you caught Marc Marons show on IFC?

Somehow I don't think I have seen the 9-9 one even though I am being beaten down with the saccharine non-funny Michael J Fox show, the pointless non-funny Robin Williams / Buffy show, the brain-dead non-funny show with the two moms or whatever, and the antithesis-of-funny Jerry O'Connell show. There are a few pockets of watchable comedies, but the NBC group took a huge beating with two of their four shows ending and who knows if Community will last more than 13 further episodes.

I didn't even know he had a show until I came across a marathon a few weeks ago. He does some good interviews on his podcast as well
