All Things: TELEVISON

Mob City was pretty good, although I was a little concerned at the beginning with the fake backdrops and completely lackluster opening scene of the three young mobsters gunning down the competition. And the hackneyed 'grey hat' speech that came with the introduction of the main character. Oh yes, you are so noir. Soooo noir. I worry that they have tried a little too hard to make him not be a white knight - murdering a man who was not particularly evil is not very cool. And I totally believe that that dork from Heroes was in the Marines with the main character. Totally. And Simon Pegg was not distracting at all. But I really did like it overall - the two hours flew by with how engaging it was.

Can't be too upset about the winners of Amazing Race. They were close every leg.

After the Afghans got eliminated, I was rooting for them, although most of it was me rooting against the other two teams, especially bitchy ex-girlfriend. No one really discussed the elimination of the ice girls. It was crappy how the one team (I think it was the girl who ended up winning) told the befuddled doctor how to do the last challenge so she was done right as the ice girls were starting, but the ice girls had themselves to blame for being in that position by getting lost.

Survivor I am hoping for an epic Laura comeback, else Hayden or maybe Katie.

Robert Knepper Talks MOB CITY, CULT, the Popularity of PRISON BREAK, and More | Collider

Just watched the first 2 hours...but it isn't anything special really. Pedestrian NOIR plot, looks like a tv show, so so acting from folks I expect better from(DeMunn, Pegg)...will keep watching but Knepper playing a part he could do in his sleep is about the only real highlight for me. And I never understood how Ed Burns continues to work. He is horrible...

Take that Once Upon a Time...

Disney Making Descendants, A Movie About The Offspring Of Their Most Popular Villains

Sounding something like a mash-up of Tiny Toon Adventures, Once Upon a Time and Good Omens, with maybe a shake of Wicked on the side, Disney?s Descendants is to be an original TV movie about the teen offspring of some of the studio?s characters.

Here?s the official blurb:

In a present day idyllic kingdom, the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney?s iconic Beauty and the Beast) is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making offspring of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters. These villainous descendants (Carlos, Mal, Evvie and Jay, respectively) are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma. Should they follow in their nefarious parents? footsteps and help all the villains regain power or embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom?

So, some will come good, some will go bad and there?s going to be a bit of starcrossed love. And that love might even save the day.

I was just gonna ask if anyone was still watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I dont think i will bother watching when it returns next month.

and yes orpheus it is that bad.

Damn, he's pretty right on. Up until the end there, probably. Steranko certainly has never been one to shy away from saying whatever the **** he wants, but... yeesh.

Is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that bad? I haven't bothered to watch it. :/

I'm still watching it, but I'm honestly having trouble continuing to justify the DVR space. I don't even think it's that bad, but it's so ****ing bland. If it wasn't Marvel-related, I'd have stopped watching altogether.

It's not that it's bad, it's that it just isn't good. 90% of it is meh, generic television reminiscent of the days when television was pointless and mediocre. The only thing that the show has offered that was fresh was going against the typical telegraphed romantic pairings, but that's trivial and probably a delay of the inevitable. I suspect that to 'save' the show they will introduce a character to the team who has powers. Maybe they can hire someone from Heroes.

Jeffrey DeMunn MOB CITY Interview | Collider

Wow, every time you turn around on this show they are dropping in yet another cool character actor, yet somehow the overall end product is less than the sum of its parts. Instantly forgettable and not at all compelling so far(3 hrs in). One thing though, my boy Robert Knepper is just NAILING it, especially in the interrogation scene. Dude plays psycho better than anyone. Prison Break was a real crapshow, but I still say go back and watch simply for him, William Fichtner, and Michael Rapaport.

One more thing about Mob City...I am a big fan of graphic violence, but the violence here is almost fetishistic. It serves no purpose other than to lovingly show entrance/exit wounds. One of the marquee deaths in the 3rd hour(cement pit) was completely useless. You never knew who it was/why they were getting filled full of lead. There has to be some weight, otherwise it's just a stunt/gag show. Disappointing.

And Ed Burns is absolutely leadenly horrible.

I find Mob City extremely engrossing when I am watching it, but it is very forgettable. It really is just a pastiche of noir clich?s recycled for the 100th time. I find Alexa Davalos to be exceptional at her part, but at the same time her character is really not a character but 'formula noir chick'. I find myself really interested in Neal McDonough's character so much more than Shane as well. No real problem with Ed Burns but I find it hilarious that he can have a giant padded chair brought into his cell. The banana thing was deeply unnecessary, including the camera painfully slapping you in the face with the visual setup of the banana company slogan so the mobster can riff off of that.

Prison Break was dumb total fun. I want to binge watch the whole thing again some day. After actually naming Knepper's character Theodore Bagwell, the biggest sin of the show was keeping his character alive because he was so good even though it made no sense for Michael and Lincoln not to end him about fifty times.

Once they got out of the first prison, it became soooo stupid. I mean, a prison in Panama?? Talk about a show where I imagine manatees picking balls out of a tank to create a story...

And yet I'd totally watch it if it came back.

SPOILER ALERT

really? Once Upon a Time had to kill off robert carlysle, the best character on the show?

**** you

there's no way he's dead. so many people have died on this show and then come right back because magic. he'll be back.
