Syfy Nabs the Metal Hurlant Chronicles - Dread Central

We've been talking about the "Metal Hurlant Chronicles" around these parts for what feels like forever, and finally we have some good news... We'll finally be able to see it too!

According to Variety, Syfy has acquired the first two seasons of the French science-fiction/action series "Metal Hurlant Chronicles."

Helmed by Guillaume Lubrano, the English-language show was produced by We Productions and is co-produced by Belvision and Nexus. “Metal Hurlant Chronicles” is based on the French sci-fi and fantasy comics anthology published in the U.S. as “Heavy Metal” and created by comic artists Jean Giraud (a.k.a. Moebius) and Philippe Druillet in 1974.

“Metal Hurlant” became a hugely popular sci-fi phenomenon in the 1980s and inspired the 1981 animated film Heavy Metal. A flurry of international actors, including John Rhys-Davies (The Lord of the Rings), Michael Biehn (The Terminator), Jimmy Jean-Louis (“Heroes”), Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2), James Marsters (“Buffy”), and Michael Jai White (“Black Dynamite”), have joined the cast of the second season, which will premiere on France 4.

Syfy will launch the series’ first season in April.

Btw, I look pretty much look like Ragnar's twin at 45 years old, and with a beer pooch, and gray hair, if he had one. Just say'n.

I'm with ya(Floki for life!), and so, clearly, is notbob...I banged the drum for this one a bit in season 1. Sadly, just not that much interest from anyone else.

That's too bad because it's a top notch production that should be appreciated by all. Needs more love. It was my favorite period type show last winter...pre Game o' Thrones that is.

There is a season 1 marathon on History right this second...Btw.

Sorry, jumped the gun yesterday...VIKINGS and RED ROAD start tonight. Not last night. You folks slipped too, woulda thought someone would have corrected me.

THE RED ROAD Review. New Sundance Drama THE RED ROAD Is Sinister | Collider

Despite what The Red Road lacks in energy, it does create a sense of mystery and of history among its key players. The exposition is easy and natural, and the show hits the ground running, immersing viewers immediately into its world. It?s ultimately a family drama, but one that shows the definition of family is not always easy. Like Phillip, the show may be much more than first seems. Given time to unfold, it may prove to be one of the better dramas of 2014, provided it occasionally raises its head from the mists.

Ok, Like Rectify(which was sooooooooo good) it is a possible launching pad for a series. This review makes it sound really tasty even though it
lacks some of the fringe characters and long shots of natural beauty that might keep it from collapsing under the weight of its own gloom.

Rob Zombie and Bret Easton Ellis to Tell the Story of The Manson Murders - Dread Central

According to Variety, Easton Ellis and director Zombie have teamed with Alcon Television to develop a project for Fox that will revisit the people and events connected to the Manson Family murder spree in August 1969.

The project is envisioned as a limited series, but it is in the very early stages of development with Fox. Ellis is set to write the script and some additional materials. Zombie is on board to direct.

Zombie has long had a fascination with the Manson Family slayings, which left seven people dead in the Los Angeles area. Among the victims were actress Sharon Tate, who was eight and a half months pregnant at the time with the child of director Roman Polanski, and prominent Hollywood hairstylist Jay Sebring.

The killings were so gruesome, and the stories of Charles Manson’s level of control of his drug-addled young followers so disturbing, that Manson was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy charges even though he was never found to have committed a homicide himself.

Manson’s clutch of cult followers have been suspected of many other murders during that era. But it was the sheer brutality and psychopathic theatricality of the killings (complete with messages written in blood at the crime scenes) unleashed on August 8-9, 1969, that jolted the nation’s psyche.

The Ellis-Zombie collaboration aims to tell converging stories of people and events leading up to and after the murders, from shifting points of view. The project is envisioned as a multi-part series, but it is one of many limited series projects in the works and is far away from receiving a greenlight.

The idea for the project began with Zombie and Adam Kolbrenner and Robyn Meisinger of Madhouse Entertainment. They developed the concept and brought it to Ellis and Alcon. To date no source material has been optioned for the project, which plans to take an original approach to dramatizing stories drawn from the historical record.

Ellis, Zombie, and the Madhouse principals will exec produce with Alcon’s Sharon Hall, Andrew Kosove, and Broderick Johnson. Ben Roberts and Ryan Cunningham serve as co-producers.

“I have been obsessed with this insane story since I was a kid, so obviously I jumped at the chance to be involved in this incredible project. After speaking with Bret, I immediately realized that we shared the same vision for this epic madness,” Zombie said.
