All Things: TELEVISON

Tv roundup...

While I am disappointed, I am not surprised that Black Sails is only going 8 episodes. I would imagine the budget per is ridiculous and limiting. And while 8 ain't enough I am glad that they put the money into the show. It's absolutely gorgeous and at 8 episodes it certainly won't overstay it's welcome. Looking forward to Vane's showdown with the man-mountain, that shot looked something out of a damned Frazetta painting.

Hannibal...Will is far the more interesting character. Really good performance. I wonder what they plan is if they have one for a s3, because judging by that BRUTAL fight scene between Jack and Hannibal, the cat will indeed be out of the bag. It's a good thing I love this show enough to look past the glaring credibility leaps(bringing Will crime scene photos while he is in the mental hospital, really????) they ask you to take. I never really thought Silence of the Lambs was worthy of all the praise heaped on it, and the sequels, prequels were even lesser, so, for me at least, this is the best use of the character so far. A little Human Centipede'y at the end there, but I can forgive this show a lot based just on how far they are allowed/willing to take things. Really though, of course the first damned scene had to be more meal prep, sheesh.

The Americans(see All things FX thread)...off to a good start, as is Fx's Legit(very odd tone...comedy, not comedy...very much like a beer drinkers version of Louie...which is more like a wine drinkers show, you know what I mean).

It's taken kind of a Hardy Boys / Nancy Drew type turn but I'll stick with it through the entire season anyway.

Tuned into the marathon yesterday just in time for one of those Scooby Doo Mystery Machine moments where the girl with the oxygen tank says(deadpan, no irony inherent), " I thought to myself, If I had a Chinese sex slave, where would I keep her(sic)"...that's what I am talking about. Almost intentionally/defiantly wtf.

That's the exact episode I had watched before I posted lol.

Ink Master is back!

Dave Narraro can sometimes be douchey, but he also sometimes is pretty quick-witted and makes me chuckle. I like the other judges.

And while I don't have any ink, I am often mesmerized watching people do tattoos, and this show.

[TV] "Constantine" Gets a Motley Crew of Friends -

Perrineau has been cast as series regular Manny. The network describes the character as an authoritative figure assigned to watch over Constantine (series star Matt Ryan). Griffiths will play the role of Liv, Constantine’s partner with supernatural abilities. True Detective’s” Charles Halford has been cast as Chas, Constantine’s oldest friend and staunch companion with possible supernatural survival skills.

A bit less enthused about the show now. Guess they're going to stray quite a bit. Still slightly optimistic about Neil Marshall doing it, though.

So ****ing excited for this.
