All Things: TELEVISON

I tried out A To Z as a protest against how Cristin Milioti was treated by the abortion of a series finale of a long-running show that is dead to me. Terrible idea - I attempt to give a new show two episodes, but it was a struggle to get myself to watch the second one and then make it through. She is alright, but the lead guy may be the most bland lead guy in the history of sitcoms, and he is a lamer wuss than even Jed Mosby. His friend is a creepy d-bag, attempting to imitate the Swarley-style lothario, except doing it as a fatty with a giant hipster beard and zero charm. The narration by Gemma/Peg/Leelo is annoying and off-putting, especially the show intro monologue, which is painful beyond belief. The creators of the show probably think it is high-concept. We know down to the hour how long the two leads will go out before briefly breaking up (in a world where the show is not cancelled next week)! Every episode is titled like a Sue Grafton novel!

I have self-cancelled it.

Caught both the episodes on Hulu. I am okay with it. I like Andrew and Zelda but really don't care for any of the supporting characters. Too generic and stereotypical (if that makes sense).

By the way, quick note on Hulu and it's annoying commercials. I don't know if it has been mentioned or not but I'll post it anyway.

Remember when it was new and they only made you sit through one commercial? Now it's ridiculous how they make you sit through 6 commercials, sometimes 7 (way more than regular TV!). So I may just be lucky right now or maybe I have found a way to block the commercials we're forced to watch.

I use Chrome when I watch stuff on Hulu and I have AdBlock. When AdBlock is on, the commercials would have trouble loading and I would have to sit through some error message about having to turn AdBlock off and you would have to wait a LONG 180 seconds (without commercials). So I would just disable AdBlock and sit through the actual commercials. Then I noticed that Chrome would automatically turn AdBlock back on midway through my show and it would somehow skip the commercials without giving me the error.

So about a week ago, I decided to try this method and it has worked so far. Unpause/Disable adblock when you start your show. Say, Modern Family for example. Then it'll flash the ABC symbol and then it'll show Phil pointing at you while it says to tune in to Modern Family on Wednesdays. That's when you turn Adblock back on. That's all you have to do and it'll automatically skip/block all the commercials for that show. Just keep repeating this for whatever else you watch.

I FINALLY caught last week's Gotham and I have to say..."Ocean Rain" (Echo & the Bunnymen) and "Spellbound" (Siouxsie & the Banshees) in the same episode...both sung by the girls trying out...
that hooked me for good. Sounds stupid, but picking those tunes tells me a lot about the writers and I like it! Makes me wonder if this show is kinda supposed to be set in the 80's. Like, in modern times Bruce would already be Batman. Eh...whatever. I was impressed with the musical selection. It totally surprised me.

From the cradle bars comes a beckoning voice. It sends you spinning. You have no choice! :punk:

I missed the first 2 eps of The Flash and CW doesnt have on-demand, so now i gotta find another way to watch them.

Anyone watching Brooklyn 99 this season? Holt has been killing it this season

Very happy that the ratings have been good for Brooklyn Nine Nine after The Simpsons lead in. If it stayed on Tuesdays after New Girl, I think it would get canceled. =x

99 is one of the only shows I watch live. Holt has been even better this year but I found myself enjoying last season overall a little more.

I didn't even recognize the songs but I'm not as familiar with the groups. Cool to know.

Last night's episode - when Gordon shot the cannister, did barely putting his elbow over his mouth really stop him from getting any gas?
I hate that I can still only associate this guy with The OC, because he's actually pretty good on the show.

I kinda gave up on Brooklyn. It doesn't fit into my Sunday night plans as well as it did on Tuesdays. Besides, it's fun...but too repetetive. Samberg was starting to get on my nerves. That and I am still not happy they cancelled DADS.

I have to say, I am watching the Kelly File and Megyn Kelly is incredibly hot! Thank you Fox.

Someone needs to watch Southland.

I'm glad that Jada Smith's seemingly strange plan with her "weapon" makes sense now. All the people with young Bruce inside that place must have gotten a little gas, so it is just the magic of being on a television show. It was nice to see young Bruce actually contribute to the show, and cleaning the corruption out of Wayne Enterprises makes for a good long term arc, since they can't clean much corruption out of the city itself.

The last Brooklyn 99 was great. Everyone is nailing it except maybe Samberg and the annoying ginger (who is 20% less grating this season!)

Most of us were not happy they aired Dads.
