All Things: TELEVISON

Cary Fukunaga to Helm THE ALIENIST TV Series with Eric Roth Producing
http://collider.com/cary-fukunaga-to-direct-the-alienist-with-eric-roth-producing/

After you helm the most talked about television program of 2014, there’s a bit more freedom, creatively speaking, given when the choice of a new project comes along and how you’d like to approach that project. In the case of Cary Fukunaga, who directed the visually stunning first season of HBO’s True Detective, the triumph of the series has allowed Fukunaga to secure distribution for Beasts of No Nation, his hugely controversial film focused on a child soldier in Africa and starring Idris Elba, through Netflix, and directorial duties on a new adaptation of Stephen King‘s It. On top of these two major projects, The Wrap reports today that Fukunaga is attached to another cherry television directing gig, this one being an adaptation of Caleb Carr‘s The Alienist for Paramount and Anonymous Content.

The Wrap summarizes the story of The Alienist as such:

Set in the tenements and mansions of Gilded Age New York City, Carr’s 1994 novel tells the story of Dr. Laszlo Kreizler who, with the help of newspaper reporter John Moore and police commissioner Theodore Roosevelt, uses the emerging discipline of psychology to track down one of New York City’s first serial killers.

Jon Stewart mentioned a desire to spend more time with his family when he announced he was stepping down as host of The Daily Show. Aside from this, he hasn’t discussed further details regarding his reasoning to quit. That is, until now.

On Saturday, The Guardian posted a story titled “Jon Stewart: Why I Quit The Daily Show”, which culminated from two different interviews with the show’s retiring host. Here, Stewart explains his decision a bit further, including not only that desire to spend more time with his family, but also the fatigue of the country’s repetitive election cycle, and his own personal dissatisfaction with the show:

“Honestly, it was a combination of the limitations of my brain and a format that is geared towards following an increasingly redundant process, which is our political process. I was just thinking, ‘Are there other ways to skin this cat?’ And, beyond that, it would be nice to be home when my little elves get home from school, occasionally.”

Stewart discussed how the upcoming US election coverage was the actual catalyst to make him leave:

If anything, it was the prospect of the upcoming US election that pushed him to leave the show. “I’d covered an election four times, and it didn’t appear that there was going to be anything wildly different about this one,” he says.

To be clear, Stewart went on record that he believes the formula of The Daily Show still works and brings in great returns for Comedy Central but not for him personally:

“It’s not like I thought the show wasn’t working any more, or that I didn’t know how to do it. It was more, ‘Yup, it’s working. But I’m not getting the same satisfaction.’”

What it really comes down to is the depressing 24-hour repetitive news cycle:

“Watching these channels all day is incredibly depressing,” Stewart told Freeman in October. “I live in a constant state of depression. I think of us as turd miners. I put on my helmet, I go and mine turds, hopefully I don’t get turd lung disease.”

The Missing: Season One
http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/16002/themissing.html

'The Missing' is an engaging mystery with some great acting and memorable characters. By jumping back and forth between two timelines, viewers not only get to piece together the puzzle of what happened to the missing child in this story, but what happened to change the lives and personalities of most of the characters as well. This was probably one of the best new (and certainly the most unsung) series on pay cable last year, and it's worth checking out. Recommended.

Could not agree more. HIGHLY recommend!!!!

AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Spinoff to Star Adrianne Palicki and Nick Blood

THE HELL? Doesn't S.H.I.E.L.D. get ratings that would get it cancelled most other places? And Agent Carter is also on the soon to be cancelled pile too? Marvel needs to rethink their tv strategy.

I haven't watched any of Season 2 yet. Anyone know if it's any good?

I hope the Mockingbird thing does well because I have, like, 3 copies of her first appearance in a box somewhere and I would love to eBay that ****. :)

Looks like AoS tried their hand at a one take extended fight scene. Not bad but i think i preferred the dare devil one

Daredevil's was definitely better, but Skye was a ****ing BOSS in this scene. So awesome.
