All Things: TELEVISON

This and the Player are my two new favorite shows, mostly because it's the two guys from Strike Back. (haven't even watched the player yet)

Glad I wasn't the only one who sought out these shows because of Strike Back. Anyone watch Blindspot and expect Stonebridge pop up and shoot the bad guy at the end?

For me it was also distracting with the waitress from Avengers and Lady Sif.

Good start for Heroes Reborn. Lots of new characters and lots to take in. It wasn't as "action packed" as I expected but I'm sure there will be more to come.. especially with the technology today, fighting with powers will look great.

Yeah but that video game girl...what the heck kind of power was that, and how does that relate to anyone else?

The Player - my god was it dumb, more than I even imagined. I forgot Willie Mays Hayes was in it too. I like Winchester so I'll give a couple more episodes, but sheesh.

Heroes Reborn... light-years ahead of what we got when things ended with a whimper.

Blindspot was great and it will be the only other new series I watch this year.

Edit: Oops, forgot about Supergirl, which I will try in October.

Minority Report was better than I expected, but I can tell it is going to be even more procedural-locked than the other two, even if there is a definite long term arc as well. Some of the little future jokes are cute (the Simpsons is on its 75th season, the Redskins finally have a new name). The agent is pretty good, but the main precog needs to step his game up. The climax of the first episode was terrible. Also Fez from That 70's Show is another cop and he went back to a variant of his Fez accent and is thus extremely annoying as an adult in a drama. Since this is a sci-fi show on FOX, it will get moved to Friday in six weeks and then cancelled six weeks after that.

Don't see Minority Report going anywhere. The second show was really boring and like you said just another procedural cop show. Guess I was expecting something different. The only way it will work if they becomes something different and I don't see that happening. A little tease with the government trying to use the precogs in some form again. Can't get by FEZ's accent.

Recorded Blindspot this week will have to catch the first episode online. To be honest the only new show I am really looking forward to is the The Last Kingdom but have a wait for that one.

The second Blindspot was good and the show looks like it at least has some interest in going somewhere. I just started the second Limitless and it is just very fun. Haven't gotten to the second Minority Report but if it is as weak as you say and I expect, I might drop it there.

I did watch the Player. It is ridiculous to begin with, but the motorcycle part really annoyed me because it made no logical sense for the main guy to do that and get shot at other than to make an action scene. Otherwise the action is watchable and both the main guy and the woman working with Snipes are pretty good, but Snipes is wasted in a pointless part and all the haha gambling references are lame.

The entire thing was just to make a few big action scenes!

I actually thought Snipes was going to turn into a "i'm a bad guy but with a good guy endgame" type character, but seems like the girl is taking that role.

Chicago PD tonight :woot:

Anyone watch Limitless? I heard it's a good show but then I saw that it's on CBS... =\ I don't know why but I tend to never like anything on CBS. Was wondering if I should give Limitless a chance anyway.

I just thought the second episode was ok. Not a big solve a crime in an hour fab anyways and this is what this looks like overall. Never cared much for shows like CSI and NCIS but if you like those than this show has the similar vibe maybe with a bit more comedy thrown in. Thought it was much better than Minority Report but not as good as Blindspot.

Yeah, the purpose of the show is action scenes, but I'm saying it made less than no sense for the main character, who is supposed to have tactical skills, to just randomly open himself to get shot at for 30 seconds for absolutely no reason besides letting us see glass break and a motorcycle go through a shopping mall. Stealth? Naah.

I am really enjoying Limitless. There are definitely procedural setups, but there are a few long term plotlines running and the show has a nice light, fun tone without being silly or unrealistic (minus the general premise of course). The main character really grew on me in the second episode and the actor is just nailing that tone. I like that the plotline with Bradley Cooper's character from the movie may be a little sinister. The supporting cast is pretty good and, come on, Arvin Sloane.

Oooooooh, I'm ready!!!
If this is anywhere near as awesome as Season 2 was, I'll be a happy camper.

Ray Stevenson as Blackbeard was seriously my dream casting.

January is wayyyyyy too far away.

Can Sean Bean survive long enough to solve ‘The Frankenstein Chronicles’?

Once more unto the breach. Sean Bean returns to television in the A&E mystery crime drama “The Frankenstein Chronicles.” Bean plays neither Frankenstein nor his monster, but a third party detective attempting to discover who has been mutilating corpses.

A quick synopsis from the A&E press release:

London, 1827. After a successful operation by the Thames River Police to apprehend a gang of opium smugglers, a child’s corpse is discovered. Inspector John Marlott (Sean Bean) is horrified to discover that it’s not actually a child, but a grotesque assembly of human body parts.

The hour-long drama will run for limited 6-episode first season as Marlott descends into the seedy underbelly of 19th century London. Someone is attempting to reanimate the dead in a grotesque parody of the novel “Frankenstein.” His investigation will go from the vice ridden underworld to the sketchy behavior of the medical establishment and political forces driving scientific progress.

It’s not explicitly stated, but this series has the feel of prot-Jack the Ripper to me. The recipe looks like a dash of “Penny Dreadful” with a little bit of “Copper.” Add in some Mary Shelley and shake vigorously. What do you guys think?

Annnnnnnnnnnd I'm in.

Continuum series finale aired here tonight... next week on SyFy. Could've done with more than 6 hours to wrap-up but it was still really good. A sci-fi classic for years to come.

‘Blindspot’ Gets Full Series Order, ‘Minority Report’ Cut to 10 Episodes

Also, Halle Berry’s summer drama Extant has been cancelled by CBS after two seasons, but Berry will continue working with CBS with the upcoming drama Legalease, which she will executive produce. With Under the Dome also gone, only Zoo remains as CBS’s lone returning summer drama for next year.
