NBC Teases A Darker Version Of Oz In The Trailer For ‘Emerald City’

Trailer not at the link, and doesn't appear to be anywhere else. Have to say, mildly enthused about this judging by some of the visuals I saw at Comicon. Although, it also looks like it could be like a really silly cross between the Wiz/GoT/Gay Porn. This show HAS to be expensive, and shows like that usually do not justify the costs on the Big 3. Still, that time travel show seems to be bucking the trend...

In the blink of a tornado’s eye, 20-year-old Dorothy Gale and a K9 police dog are swept into a world far removed from our own – a mystical land of competing realms, lethal warriors, dark magic and a bloody battle for supremacy. Starring Vincent D’Onofrio (Daredevil, Jurassic World) as the guileful Wizard and directed by the visionary Tarsem Singh across three European countries, this is Oz completely reimagined – a place where familiar characters show up in fresh, unexpected ways, and where an unsuspecting young woman holds the fate of kingdoms in her hands. And as Dorothy navigates this dangerous world and uncovers her true destiny, we’ll see there’s no place like… Oz.

The presence of The Fall director Tarsem and his The Cell colleague Vincent D’Onofrio may serve as a hook for viewers scared away by elaborate land-sprawling epics with a dash of magic in them. Mind you, Game of Thrones has changed everything and dorkier fare is now given its due, so that nudge might not be needed. The series premiere of Emerald City is set to air on January 6, 2017.

They did. There was a big movement by Zachary Levi to convince Netflix to keep it on there but ultimately they dropped it. Good thing I've had the Blu-rays longer than it's been on Netflix :woot:

Man. Rectify has either 2 or 3 episodes left before the series finale and as I have told you before...it's stunning. A lot of the hope is gone though, and it is exquisitely heartbreaking to watch. I still hold out for something resembling a happy ending...but I do not know if that's in the cards. I implore you guys...for your own sake, watch this show. I believe the first 3 seasons are on Netflix, and since it's the end, the fourth season should be up a few months after it concludes. It really is beautiful and unique.

Orph did you catch Vixen calling on her Dolphin power last night? 10 mins into Legends of Tomorrow!

I have that ep saved on my DVR Hard Drive. I usually let the player record the show and watch it later that night, but I was sleepy last night and didn't watch it. :P

I'll probably get to it this weekend though and will keep and eye out for the dolphin power! ;)
