***Anaheim Ducks vs. Los Angeles Kings GDT 1/16/26 7:30pm on FanDuel***

There seems to be some high expectations for the Kings here on LGK. Some believe the Kings should win these games. Why? Be happy they got a point. Once I heard that the Ducks were playing without two of their best players, the Kings were in trouble.

There is no savior coming in to save the Kings. They are not a playoff team. And if somehow magically they do make the playoffs, it sets them back another year, just so they can play another 4 games. Like Apollo's trainer said to him, " let it go, let it go" and let the rebuild start.

And the clown🤡 show HC presser continues 🤪😳😂

On whether the Kings are at a place where one point is not enough
Oh, that’s not good enough. No, we’re there. No question. We’ve been there for a while, really. Yeah, no.
What did he say that was clown show?

I thought all answers were mostly truthful and spot on.

I won’t be watching tomorrow. I need a break from this bullshit.
I have missed several games lately because when the alternative to watching is doing something else, something else is often better.

Also I like to see them lose for draft/impetus for change purposes. When I watch i can’t help but root for them. It’s less bipolar to just look away.

They should just go for the full tank. Is Desjardins still available?😁

The Kings are tied for the most blown leads this season with 12.
Count me shocked! They've improved though...they are now blowing leads in the 2nd period. Next week they'll work on blowing leads in the first period. By the time the Olympic break they will not have any leads at all. Progress!

.The goalie or the coach?

jom

But we've got a good defense./s

Seriously though, WTF happened after we took a 2-0 lead? The Kings totally let up and the ducks scored right away.
This is a great question for the coach. He didn’t have an answer 9 months ago when it happened in the playoffs. He still doesn’t have one today.

Maybe it’s too much to ask for the head coach to have a better answer than the entire fanbase.

Agreed - Fully healthy, the Kings are a borderline playoff team / 1st round exit. Better to miss the playoffs this season and start restocking the cupboards through the draft. We need high end players, not middle/bottom six to lift us and it seems the draft is the only viable solution (whether we keep the prospects or trade them).

Personally I like having high talented players in the pipeline to provide hope for the future (even if it is never realized). This feels like the post-Gretzky era (beginning 96/97) were we had some decent vets and a few promising youngsters on the roster but not much else going on or a whole lot of hope things were going to get better anytime soon.

It sucks that I'm never looking forward to the 1 hour plus drive. Going again vs Rangers and then still have tix for a few more games. Thinking I will let my daughter and her friend go to every game and only go back for Kopi's last regular season game (and likely last game overall)

Give Doughty the option to be traded too. Only do it if he wants. Then max the returns on Fiala, Kuemper, Kuz, Foegele, ??? trades. These all might be summer trades - with the exception of Kuz.

I believe you want to trade at the deadline, teams seem to overpay at that time.

I meant tied for 4th with 12, sorry.
Oddly that is the same number of regulation wins they have. A whopping TWELVE regulation wins in 48 games. My goodness, only the Canucks sucks as bad the Kings in the RW department.

At this point, peeling potatoes for the sake of peeling potatoes seems like a better past time. :>

Depends. Trading at the deadline for expensive players with term extending into the following (or beyond) season has significant cap implications that can complicate the roster construction in the long run.

Some teams may be in for the last hurrah or two, which means players like Fiala may not be what they're looking for.

Some teams may not feel like they're ready yet for massive spending at the deadline (young up-and-coming teams that overperform based on the past seasons and might still have quite glaring holes that can't easily be fixed at the deadline).

This season, Perry and Kuzmenko for sure. Both have had stretches of good play and would demand at least a 2nd rounder in return, maybe with another later round pick attached. Oilers need depth desperately. I'm sure they would love either.

Moverare - he could find a taker or two.

The almost-UFA Doughty, Kuemper, Armia, Foegele, Forsberg - both Armia and Foegele have value this season as they're quite cheap, though Foegele has a down year. But I doubt any of them get traded, as the Kings may want to choose to be "lightweight sellers" (Perry, Kuzmenko) this season in order to keep the hope alive.

DD is quite expensive and has a limited number of teams that can trade for him due to his NMC. I doubt Doughty has a taker willing to overpay a lot this season, though to be fair the Leafs have found a bit of their groove and may be desperate enough...but they have no 1st pick until 2028 (though to be fair that could be a lottery pick) and their prospect pool is that much more depressing than the Kings'. The only interesting option are Danford and Koblar (born in Slovenia, so Kopitar may have a say here, though he plays for Norway, so maybe he doesn't care) who is a big center already holding his own in SHL and playing for the national team and producing there.

IMO the Kings don't fully dismantle the team this season, no matter how bad their record is come deadline. If we're lucky Ken won't be a desperate buyer...

I believe Holland knows this team's ceiling and if anything will be a seller this coming deadline. I can't see him giving up anything to possibly have a chance to play an extra 2 home games.

You seem so confident. If he was so aware of this team's low ceiling, why did he sign Dumo and Ceci to 4 year deals, then? Extending far beyond Kopitar's retirement and even DD's contract, with Kempe extension being a complete unknown at that point...

Unless he signed them as "bridge" players (=tank commanders) in disguise. :)
