Less than two games into the 2026 Winter Olympics, Kevin Fiala’s run in Italy has already come to an end. During the final few minutes of Friday’s game vs. Canada, the Swiss forward was tangled up with Tom Wilson along the boards and instantly went down in what appeared to be agonizing pain. He was eventually taken off the ice on a stretcher and has now been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.

Teammate Drew Doughty watched on in concern as Fiala left the playing surface, even appearing to try and say a few words to him. The Kings veteran defenseman later offered a few comments on the situation to gathered media during a postgame scrum.
Drew Doughty on his Kings teammate Kevin Fiala:
"Tough to see. Hopefully he’s gonna be fine quick, we need that guy on my team back home, big-time. That’s not something I wanted, obviously, to happen. Gonna go find him right now and see how he’s doing."
