***Buffalo Sabres vs. Los Angeles Kings GDT 1/24/24 7:30pm on BSW***

I remember complaining about Fiala being a liability sometime ago and getting flamed for it. Tonight was another example of the one-step-forward, two-steps-back I think he brings to the Kings prospects at winning a game.

Todd is hanging on for dear life trying to make sure he’s employed during his scheduled vacation so he gets one extra paycheck. Been there buddy…

The repeating pattern of second period disasters points to a glaring inability to adapt to in-game momentum swings and strategic changes made by the opposing coach. McLellan is too rigid. His vision is telescopic. TM simply does not know how to win when under pressure.

And then there is the question of accountability. How do all the bonehead plays/choices escape some kind of discipline? TM sat Fiala once! Just once! Tonka contributes nothing, but he plays too. The Kings bottom 6 blows. Laffy needs to sit and watch a few games. Why can’t this coach…? Oh, never mind…

On the second part his hands are tied because the roster is paper thin due to salary cap concerns.

As bad as Fiala can be, he's the only guy in the lineup (aside from now Clarke) with even an ounce of creativity. He's been the only guy driving any offense 5 on 5 over the past couple weeks. But that pass up the middle was unforgivable.
Yeah, he is a double edged sword. A prime reason why the 2nd line has been doing so well as of late. IMO.

So, what you are saying is maybe these moves by Blake to get Fiala an PLD were not as good as we thought?
The reality is every winning team has selfish players. Just like every losing team has them too. The key is to get as many guys in that locker room on the same page from an effort standpoint as possible. No team gets 100% buy in 100% of the time. Minimize the lapses and maximize give a ****.

Tonight there was way too many lapses and way too many guys not giving a ****.

So Doughty quotes on Kings Talk says “We got guys in this room that are worried about themselves and worried about their points.” and also saying its not the coaches its on the team.

Comes down to the coach to nip that in the bud. Hire Pat Quinn's ghost

if someone can post that full Doughty media scrum I think it’s important to watch the full thing. Doughty absolutely cares and I love to see it.

Full Doughty quote from Jill Painter who was in the scrum: “I think we’ve got guys in this room who are too worried about themselves and worried about their points and stuff like that… it’s about the team and not yourself. A lot of guys need to realize that!"

Todd was asked about Drew’s take and he agreed. He said they get 3 quick goals and all of a sudden guys think they’re out of their scoring slumps, then play for themselves and what happens? Suck on that.

Yeah, he said Suck on that.

If you didn’t watch the post game show on Bally’s - you missed it.

First - Drew basically calling out selfish teammates, but backing the coaching staff.

Second - Todd calling the game “stupid hockey” - he’s pissed at players making poor decisions & he has used all the poking & prodding (he first said “bullets in the chamber” but not appropriate).

Way intense. Stolly also supported the staff.

sh*t is gonna fly.
