Byfield

I think he will but not at center. My impression is his puck-handling/passing isn't good enough as a center. His best value is pounding the crap out of the D and clearing space for others.
And an emergency stop gap at center after Kopi retires until the Kings can find a suitable replacement, should Q not take the reins.

The only forward we have that is a more creative and better passer is Fiala.

He’s the 2nd coming of Jason Allison.

Birdman, are you talking about PLD or Byfield? I assume the OP you quoted was talking about PLD, although it would be preferable if we can all agree to leave this thread for discussion specifically regarding QB, unless we are directly comparing him or discussing him in relation to other players. No fault of yours, clearly, but somehow this thread has been intermingled with specific discussion about PLD, and it seems as though it’s possibly causing some cross wires, so I’m just trying to clarify whom your statement is in reference to.

All the impatient self-pleasurers who have crowing about Q not being the second coming of Bobby Orr can eat my shorts. He was not drafted to be an immediate monster on the ice; he was drafted to become a monster. He is well on his way to achieving that. A clear case of patience paying off.

He has always been the big dog on the ice until he got to the NHL and has taken time to adjust his game and realize he can actually play at this level. He has his game defined and has arrived

We lost one game because their goaltender stands on his head, and now everyone is coming after PLD with torches and pitchforks, in a thread about QB55. Typical LGK.

He’s still on track for his average points per season at the Quarter Pole.
I’ve been gone for a bit! Popped in and out as I was raising my daughter. Typical LGK at its finest. Shocker eh? Not!

I ref PL reminding me of Jumbo in an earlier post. I hope that comes to fruition, but it truly seems he is in slow motion, or as u say, floating

Some said that about Kopitar...but he has a fine resume for a "floater". He said at one point "when everyone is good no one needs to be great" and some LGKers got an awful allergic reaction to those words. But Kopi spoke the truth. The team needs to play good and cohesive and as close to their 100% as possible without risking too much (injuries, exhaustion before playoffs etc.) and everyone is better off compared to team not trying enough because McDavid and Drai do all the work.

Especially in RS.

I'd prefer PLD to not overexert himself in order to meet RS production wishes of the fanbase while the team is hot and has super balanced scoring. Let him slowly adapt to the system and if there's a funk OR come playoff time...that's when he needs to perform and that's when I will judge him strictly.

Plus...big guys very often give out an impression of being "floaty". His stride is probably 2 times the stride of Lizotte, and so is his reach (longer hands AND stick)...

EDIT: can someone move all this PLD discussion into a separate thread?

Totally agree this is brings balance to great teams, there are way too many top heavy teams in the league that get a lot of attention through their stars but in general don’t get the prize. When I think about whether the Kings can sustain this I am encouraged that some are overachieving and others not but over the course of a season everyone will get their game going.
