By the eye test, the Kings should have won that game going away. Not to take away from Quick but Mrazek stood on his head all game to keep that close. Kings shooters started going for corners and missing the net entirely. The corsi count at 5 v 5 was 50 for the kings, 29 for the Hawks. Fenwick and Shots told a similar story, the kings were dominant at 64% of the ice. The difference was the Hawks specialty situations, even at 4 v 4 and PK they managed to drag the overall game to 55-45% of the events. Thankfully those both basically evened out in real time with Danault getting his goal right as time expired. Even the OT period which seemed to be all kings for that first 3 shifts suddenly turned into pucker time. Great work by Danault to get the puck over to Fiala at the end and thankfully he was rewarded for his hard work that game.
I don't know exactly where I feel most comfortable with Fiala in the lineup but i can say I like the work that Gabe is doing with Kopi. He's bridging that speed gap with Kempe much better than Fiala in the same position. As Nyssa said Gabe is making Kopi look like a better player again. If we can ever get Iafallo and Q back I wouldn't be opposed to trying VA out with the two of them and seeing how much Fiala could work with Danault and Moore. Grundy's been doing some good work but I'm ok with him rotating with Lemieux and maybe on occasion with Kaliyev. I still appreciate Kaliyev's PP presence but they have got to actually work towards his shot or its a waste of time.
