GDT ***Chicago Blackhawks vs. LA Kings GDT 12/4/25 7:00pm on ESPN+ & Hulu***

First Kings PP resembled a Sat Night Live skit. Followed shortly by Hawks PP that scored about 5sec in. Fairly clear at that point about the outcome. Kuemper made it close, but couldn't save yet another inept offensive performance by a team looking too old and slow to compete in the NHL.

Watching Byfield and Fiala - elite skill and ZERO hockey sense. Fiala thought that was icing. Byfield cycled it offside. So frustrating. Wish we had Faber and Stutzle instead.

With management and coaching like this it's questionable how those two would develop, and it would likely just prolong the suffering with Hiller at the helm...

And neither are (so far) not nearly good enough to carry a team to the Cup on their own.

The real dagger for me is that our coach is just as big of a dipshit as these two, because he even thought for a split second that it would be a good idea to play these two clowns together. Let alone running it for multiple games, and failing to see, not only how fruitless this pairing is, but also how dangerous it is to have them on the ice together. They both need babysitters, which is what it is, but the fact that our coach cannot recognize this just absolutely floors me.

This is the real issue. Hiller doesn't seem to be able to grasp quite basic logic when putting forward lines together and setting up tactics.

At this point it would make sense to try:
QB-Turcotte-Kempe
Fiala-Kopitar-Laferriere
Foegele-Helenius-Moore
Armia-Danault-Perry (Armia and Danault get the lion's share of PK time, Perry gets some PP time)

But we all know he does not have the b*lls to try something like this. Probably because it would likely turn out to be a boon for Turcotte and he'd highlight his foolishness about limiting his ice time so much...

This!!! ⬆️

This was from the Hiller post game press conference -
On the team’s style of play tonight
We had a team of players tonight – and I’m trying to think of, I’m sure there were a few exceptions, usually it’s the other way, I’m sure there was a few exceptions – we had a team of players tonight that thought that they were going to play the game their way, how they wanted to play it. We play a really demanding style of hockey on the players and they do an exceptional job of it, have done it for years and there always looks like there could be a more exciting and sexy way to do it. I think you saw players try and play that game through, at least most of the first 40 minutes and I think you saw a pretty clear result in that style of hockey for our team in particular.
I don't know what to make of this. Does it mean they're not listening to him or that he has a no control over them? I don't know which players he's talking about. But will there be any consequences? There were other answers to questions where it doesn't sound like he knows how to fix what's wrong.

Turcotte only got 1 shift in the 3rd.

The Kings have the 2nd oldest team in the NHL. Average age: 29.83
Oldest team is Winnipeg: 29.84

Holland shouldn't sleep until he can find a deal for Doughty. He has value. His cap hit isn't so bad anymore. 1.5 years left. He's bored with Kings hockey (understandably!!!) and every single player that leaves the Kings' system goes on to put up better numbers. GMs know this.

I'm sure there's a few contenders in the East that would LOVE to have him. Take on a bad contract and pick up a couple 1st rounders, it's not rocket science, there is definitely a deal to be made.

Montreal???

I'm not sure what to think of that game last night. Are we all unicorn barf and puppydog farts this morning if Kempe buries that first minute back door tap in and the kings start with a lead? The PP is managing to fail in new and painful ways. The crowd was either into the game all third, or they're piping in lots of go kings go chants on the ESPN broadcast. Hillers comments want them to get back to an identity that remains completely unclear other than "thank god for Darcy". Back to back games against the same opponent represent the opportunity to simulate playoff coaching tweaks. It would seem a waste to spend this one bitching because you know the other coach already has you dead to rights.

Once we got the 1st (and only) goal, the small crowd was pretty into it after having been quiet for most of the game other than the boos after 2nd period. There were a lot of Hawks fans, but they were surprisingly not very annoying or vocal.

maybe the fans should pull a reverse dodgers and wait out traffic and show up for the third with all these weird start times.

I don’t know a single team that would trade a first round pick for 1.5 years of DD at 35 yo, especially a top ten that would have the greatest chance of panning out into the NHL. And I love DD. I even bought his jersey for Xmas this year.

Mini-Bertuzzi is good, too. All these young teams gonna be great in about 2 seasons. And the Kings have zero prospects....
Ok, maybe not zero prospects. This is about the 3rd article/media I've seen on this guy in the past week - he's really making an impact on the Reign - and I forgot about Greentree. So...we have 2 guys who might be good in the future.

And Woolley and Brzustewicz are still in Juniors. Both those guys seem slated for the NHL sooner than later.

A buyer for a vet like this isn't going to have a high pick anyways. That's a given. IMO he could easily fetch a 1st and a decent prospect, especially if some cap is retained. Not sure which teams on his list are competitive nowadays, though...doubt the Leafs will be buyers. But they might be anyways since their fans will demand heads to roll if they fail to make playoffs.
