I don’t know a single team that would trade a first round pick for 1.5 years of DD at 35 yo, especially a top ten that would have the greatest chance of panning out into the NHL. And I love DD. I even bought his jersey for Xmas this year.
Completely disagree...Kings players have a major track record of increasing their performance after leaving the organization. A newly motivated Drew DEFINITELY has 1.5 years of good hockey left in the tank. He's the exact player a younger team in contention would covet. 2 cups, 2 gold medals, and an icon to all the younger generation, he'd be a huge piece for a Montreal, Detroit, Islanders, Canes...
And it's not a top 10 pick if he's going to a "contender" 2 first rounders and a decent prospect is a reasonable return, especially if the Kings take back a bad contract.
Obviously this is contingent on the incoming free fall coming to fruition or not...
