On a serious note, the Kings have a lot of defensemen on the roster.
Assuming this is the top six:
Doughty-Anderson
Spence-Gavrikov
Clarke-Edmundson

That leaves Englund, Moverare and Burroughs.

I understand Burroughs is a depth D. But we certainly don’t need both Englund & Moverare, do we? And we really don’t want to keep anyone who is in Ontario who
counts against the cap.

I think the Kings need one more offensive player, a middle six. Depending on what QB gets the Kings will have somewhere between 1-3M left.
Trading Englund frees up I think 1M.

Two things I’m wondering about…
Is it even possible that QB could do a one-year for 4M, then get the longer term a year from now? Would free up some valuable cap space.

Is it possible that Gavrikov gets moved? That’s 6.5M, which I honestly think is overpayment. Do the Kings have enough lefty D to absorb that loss?

I think this roster looks better with a Necas on it, or someone similar.

I think a trade is coming, and not just with Kaliyev. I don’t think the Kings are finished.

I think Jones, Burroughs, Englund, and Moverare can all be buried in the AHL with NO cap hit to the team, correct? Of course, if they are sent down they have to clear waivers and are subject to being snatched. Also, a few of those guys probably make guaranteed NHL salaries, but that’s irrelevant as long as ownership doesn’t care, since it has no bearing on the cap. I think the Reign have lost quite a few defenders, so I assume Jones, Burroughs, and Moverare are likely destined to be waived from the start, with Englund having perhaps a very slight inside track on the 3LD spot.

In my estimation all this does is create an intense competition for at least two or three of the defender slots, and will force the cream to rise to the top. If we assume that the Doughty/andersen pair, and the Spence/Gavrikov pair are essentially set in stone, that leaves 3 guys auditioning for the LD spot next to Clarke, and Clarke with a RD in Burroughs who will be nipping at his heels for NHL minutes, if he fails to perform.
