From the ashes in Tampa raises a Pheonix.

I wish him good luck. :good:

I will dislike this if they don’t intend to keep him on their NHL roster. I realize they’ll have to send him through waivers if they don’t, and we can just claim him back, but all of that seems so unnecessary.

Highly doubtful he stays on the NHL roster, but if he is given a shot to prove he belongs there then that is more than he would have gotten with the Kings. Would be great to see him make the most of this chance, play well and stick in the NHL.

He carried the Kings into the playoffs before they traded Quick. Then he got screwed as he did not see the ice after the deadline.
He saw very limited ice in the playoffs to the tune of a 4.26 GAA and .750 SPCT. Highly doubtful he was going to steal the show come playoff time, but it would have been nice to have seen him be given a decent shot.

In all fairness, though, Korpisalo was the better of the two goaltenders.

I always thought Copley got a raw deal once Quick was traded away. His post-season stats look horrible, but the only playoff time he got was when Korpi got pulled in game#5 when the game was all but over anyway. Then he got injured and needed surgery and that was that. Wish him well in TB!

Well, good luck to the North Poler in TB. At least the Kings still have depth in goalie in Forsberg, George, Portillo, and Sluk. Though in Sluk's case, he's not NHL-ready yet as he's not eligible for an ELC until next year if I'm not wrong.
