***DSLR/Photography MegaThread***

PS - I feel like a chump, you guys are doing great work, I have to get outside more :)

Yo, yo, yo!

A while back, I mentioned that there were a ton of great tuts via video podcasts for digital photography. Most of the casts I subscribe to are Photoshop related.

My favorite by far is Pixel Perfect with Bert Monroy. He is an amazing digital artist who will blow you away with what he can create in PS from scratch.

The past two episodes, Ben Willmore has been a guest on his show demoing and providing tips on creating HDR images. It's pretty nice, and it gives those who are unfamiliar with the process a little insight. Between the two episodes, I think the accumulative demo time is about 35+ minutes.

To check it out, search for "Pixel Perfect" in the Podcast Directory in iTunes (or whatever podcast manager you may use), and enjoy!

I got skunked on the photo contest. There were some amazing shots entered and the winners were deserving for the most part. Maybe next year. :)

I did get some good shots for the wife's blog anyways.

Here are some of the great pics I was up against. The one of the girl with the porpoise won Best of Show, it's an amazing pic. If you look closely you will see one of Gal VanIZed roller skating and one of my dog Hali at the very end.

Really nice work FBJ! Looks like something out of a magazine. Very cool. HeShootsNScores is right when you mess around you don't mess around... That doesn't make sense does it?

HeShoots: Love that first one with all that detial in the feathers. Speaking of messing around, I hope you had a great honeymoon!

BTW, I just got back from a trip to Europe and took the D300 with my 18-200VR convenience/travel lens. I got there and it wouldn't focus properly. It has some kind of internal problem that I could not work around. I had to revert to using my wife's point-n-shoot. Two lessons here: take a back up lens, and don't bank on the 18-200VR. This is the second time it is going in for service, and I'm not the only one having trouble with that lens.

I just shot in continuous bursts. 11fps = about three decent shots per drop.

:)

We went again last night to see Manic Hispanic. It was fricken chaos.
I was in the war zone right up front and got slammed, soaked etc. but held onto the camera. ;)

Those are looking great, nice job!

Way less glare thanks to the Canon $55 plastic lens hood. ;)

Lens hoods are where it is at, less glare, better contrast, and less need for a lens cap, so you are less likely to miss shots.

We covered Long Beach California Mayor Bob Fosterr cruising around in a biodiesel tractor on the beach today.
It was a fun experience and we got a few cool photos.
