Blown-Out Ballerina

A drastically over-exposed area of highlights resulted in the face of my subject being completely blown out. Rather than throw this image out, I elected to poke it around a bit in Lightroom to see what could be done with it to create something interesting. I think I succeeded.

I did the same thing with a blown out Nine Inch Nails pic and really liked the results.

I remember that one.

Thing about this one is that I just don't know how to feel about it. Initially, I thought it was interesting. Looking at it again and again, it strikes me in different ways. Wife thinks it's amazing. It's the only image that the client has seen so far (though I was going to leave this one out because her daughter isn't recognizable), and she said it was "stunning."

Oh well.

That was one of the weirdest portrait shoots I've done, by the way...

Well I am driving down to Canon tomorrow with mine. I went to take it to soccer pictures with my son, and when I took him ice skating...and it is not turning on with a fully charged battery. Switched out SD cards for a new one, and still nothing. Hopefully, my camera is not an expensive paperweight

Here are some of the last pics that I have taken with the beast in the last few months:

I haven't ordered LR3 yet...I may wait until I upgrade my home PC. It's getting a tad long-in-the-tooth (a 2006 model).

I'm hoping that my computer can handle LR3 and that the learning curve is short. I've never tried LR2 so it will be nice to see what I can do that I can't do now. I like the idea of tags within the JPG's.

There are some tutorials on Adobe's site. They do a pretty good job of getting you started.
