I have been reading through this thread for awhile, but this is the first time I have posted any of my pics. Here are a couple I shot to put up in my son's room. Tell me what you think.

It's been awhile since I've been to this thread, I had forgot about it. I have a question, anyone shoot hockey with a 300 2.8L IS? I have the 70-200 IS II but was thinking of getting the 300 to try out. I have other uses for it but was curious about it for hockey on top of the 70-200.

I also have a 1Ds III for sale or trade if anyone is interested. I'm not sure if I can post that here, if not let me know.

Wow, Lightroom 3.0 is nuts! You can publish directly to Facebook, Flickr and Smugmug with automatic file sizing and watermarking for each specific site.

This is nuts!

Found a new use for my Manfrotto legs...

No kidding. There's a picatinny rail adapter that allows you to mount your weapon on a Manfrotto pistol-grip head like I have...saweEET!

Here's a few from my trip to D.C. I'm still sorting through a ton and have to do some work on them, but here's a couple I like at 2:30am.

I'm thinking of getting a 400 mm lens. Anyone have one? It might be good for shots from the spot near the TV cameras at Staples. It would also be cool for nature shots like the birds etc.

Dude...which 400 are you thinking about? A 400 prime would be major dinero and major huge.

What about a 2x teleconverter behind your 70-200? You lose a couple stops that way, but that'd be pretty much the best bet in my mind.

I just traded for the 300L 2.8 IS, you're welcome to try it out. I was going to bring it to training camp and see how it was. The 400 5.6 would have no chance for hockey, the 100-400 I had was slow as molases to focus. So the only two left would be the old 400 2.8 non IS or the 400 2.8 IS which is a beast. The 300 2.8 isnt small and marginally hand holdable.

Let me know if youre interested.

That sounds great! I think the 400 2.8 IS goes for $5000 or so. Out of my league!

The 300 might be the ticket. Sometimes when the team is at the other end of the rink, the 300 would probably be the perfect length.

Yeah I looked into buying a 400 2.8 IS since its what Id really like with baseball as the primary reason for it. The last one I saw in good shape went for $5900 quickly. Someday....

I notice at the games you dont shoot with a hood. Is that a requirement of the NHL or is it because it doesnt fit through the cut out in the glass?

I'll let you know what day Im headed to camp...probably Sunday or Monday.

Lens-hood through glory hole + high-velocity player/equipment = busted lens/lens hood/on-ice obstacle.
