I'm heading out to Joshua Tree next weekend (hopefully) so I'm thinking I might get something for my time out there. At least, that's the plan. . .

went to this asian outdoor market event in pasadena this weekend, it was crazy crowded

Barkers Dams has plenty of cool opportunities as does Keys Point.
Thanks Hip. Barkers was one I wanted to check out. Depending on time, weather, and opportunities (to say nothing of not knowing where the hell I am), we'll see about some others.

Heres a shot that may be familar to some

Here's a shot I took for my Commercial Photography class. Our assignment was to photograph something glass and make it look as appealing as possible. Unfortunately I forgot the black plexi to set the glass on so I was forced to use regular backdrop paper since we can only get a short slot in the studio to allow all students the time to shoot.

Figured it would be fun to shoot the mug although I couldn't find a good way to bring out where my name is etched in, so I just figured I'd leave it be.

So I got out there finally (two weekends later) and found some time to get a couple of shots. I'm still going through what I have, but here's a couple so far. The night ones are just neat to me. Nothing fantastic in terms of award winning. I just like how they came out. :)

FYI, I finally got my new Nikon D800 from B&H last week, 42 days after it was released (and I ordered it during the first hour it went on sale). I have to say it is pretty awesome. It is definitely not a sports camera since it only does 4 frames per second, but the image quality is amazing. It's also pretty complex with lots of pro features, so it's not really the best thing for family snapshots. What it is is a photo enthusiasts dream. It's a camera that challenges you to be a better photographer. It reminds me of when I used to shoot medium format film. You had to work a little harder to get the right image, but the results were always worth the effort.

I've been so busy with life, kids and work that I kind of lost my passion for photography lately. This camera has gotten me excited again.
