Maybe, but I think he is going to have to play a full season like that to become that expensive. With the cap going up like it probably will, the Kings can afford to give him a short term prove it deal. One that doesn’t break the bank but recognizes how he played for a few months.

I think if he can do that for a season, especially 2, he can ask for that kind of money.
 
Good win, even the oilers B team is solid. Now to fight through the inevitable letdown against Seattle and the quacks.

Don’t agree. This win does mean something. It gets us ahead of them & more likely to secure 2nd seed. If they say we won because they didn’t have Connor & Leon, well maybe don’t build a 2 man team.

Anyway, solid effort from the Kings. Kuemper is unreal right now. And we CLINCHED!!! WOO-HOO!!! The only one I feel a little badly for is Malott. That would’ve been an incredible 1st goal if they didn’t call it back for icing. I hate those reviews. If someone scores a goal like that & it’s their 1st one, just give it to him. I don’t care if someone’s a few inches offside. And if it’s really blatant, then how about the linesman do your freaking job. That’s literally your main task. If not we should bring in robots to do it better.

Still wish that Mallot goal counted, heck of an effort. Glad to see the kings beat a shorthanded Oilers team like they should have. Great they got the shutout for Darcy to pay him back for the other night. Big 4 point game and now we see how the end of the season goes.

Small sample size and need to see how he performs in playoffs but one thing to keep in mind is that so far Kuzmenko has filled a hole on the top line that has existed for several seasons.
Ideally you’d want a short term contract to retain him beyond this year but with his performance so far other teams interest could really complicate things.

As a good friend of mine here recently noted, Kuzy is the closest thing to Stick we have seen since Williams’ unfortunate (Nyssa42) departure. And I would argue Kuzy has a better shot and top end speed.

He’s 29. Not gonna get a foolishly long term based on just one season. But they need to keep him. Bite the bullet until Kopi is 40?

I actually see a little bit of Vilardi in Kuzmenkos game. Kind of a hybrid between JW & Gabe.

A concern for me is where has this player been? Of course he had the big year early in his career but hasn’t done all that much since. Was it that he wasn’t a fit anywhere else or ?

I know there has been talk of a big offseason signing (Marner or someone else) but do they have what they need in Kuzmenko for about half the price? If so that extra money could be really useful.

Honestly I don't think he has the grit per se of Justin Williams but he reminds me more of the determination and skill of Kucherov on TBL.

Justin Williams had very little flash but he was efficient and got under the skin of his opponents. He wasn't the fastest and didn't have the best shot but he made up for it with his passion drive to the net and enthusiasm.

Kuzy also reminds me of fiala but with more hockey IQ, deception and discipline. If we can lock him up for a few years that would be great, but without copepitar or a center that could dish not sure where he'd be? Perhaps QB can fill in this Gap when Kopi retires.

Although we don’t know the specifics, we do know that room in Vancouver was toxic. Kuzy scored 39 when that room was happy. He is such a good fit in L.A. and we fans should be happy to see him buying into the team identity so quickly.

I did not get to see this game or participate in the discussion, but PAY KUZMENKO WHATEVER HE WANTS!!! I love his game, and I love his personality. I'm pretty sure he doesn't understand half of the questions Carlynn asks, but he makes up a good answer anyway and always has a big smile on his face and says thank you to the fans.
