Perry wasn’t enough for you, eh?If there was one move management could pull to completely destroy any interest or love I have for this current team, signing Kane would be it.

Perry sucked, and I've been trying to ignore the fact that I can't stand him. He's helped my perception of him both with good play and by not being a complete jack hole. I won't cry when he's gone, though.Perry wasn’t enough for you, eh?
Agree to disagree. Robertson could be our first 100pt player, since gawd damn guy Jimmy Carson was traded for...yeah he also had 100pts (according to Google).I have to agree. Putting our eggs in the wrong basket, or how would you say...
We're not one Robertson away from fixing this team...far from it.

Bullocks, my Robertsons projected points goal was spawned this off-season in an off-the-cuff-remark that has now permeated every single waking hour of my life. I may be psychotically obsessed. Poor Jason. He's not a 100pt guy anymore though.
When would he be a 100pt guy on the Kings? When and how does the team become good enough to enable him to be a 100 point guy if they spend the remaining assets and cap space to land him if we were to keep Kempe, too? Who's the PP quarterback? Who's the coach?
Robertson has 10+13 on PP. Kempe has 2+5 playing point. Fiala 4+9. As things stand he'd be a 75-80pt guy on the Kings if we're lucky...

Seriously, though it's more of a hometown guy, playing for his hometown team, that rejuvenates his scoring touch. You know everything that Toronto sells to every player to ever sign there. Why can we sell the same dream?
I know you don't think Robertson is the move but if memory serves, a month ago you were pitching a Thompson/Tanve pick up. Which would mean the homegrown guy (Kempe) we just PAID, would be moved to the second line? Yes? Since we are clearing the air...do you care to expand?
Yeah, but he often got to be the meat in a Sedin sandwich in Vancouver. That helped. This discussion had me thinking back to previous trade deadline acquisitions, reminiscing about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Which ones stand out in your mind as some of the worst/most pointless midseason, or trade deadline acquisitions in Kings history? I’ll go first.. I’m always reminded of that Anson Carter pickup, because I have to listen to him on the TNT panel occasionally bring up his brief stint, which was entirely forgettable minus the fact that he mentions it on those national broadcasts. I’m sure there have been worse, but the guy didn’t score a single goal in his 15 games with the Kings, and we failed to make the playoffs. To make matters worse, he scored 30+ the following season with Vancouver.
Ah. Fair enough.Who's Tanve?
I was playing with the idea of Tage Thompson because he's a big goalscoring center. Turned out he's untouchable and Sabres don't suck anymore, so...![]()
Ah. Fair enough.
I thought you wanted both Tage Thompson from Buffalo and Brandon Tanev from Utah, for some reason. But you probably meant (or posted)Thompson/Tuch. Brunettes with beards and crazy eyes are a dime a dozen, so you get it. My bad, B.

Apologies.
In case you hadn't noticed, Buffalo is a playoff team and the Kings are not. They have 6 more points in the same number of games. And that's also ignoring that Buffalo was initially awful so they've been white hot the last couple months. So there's no way to get Tage or Tuch without a time machine. Why do you keep apologizing? This is a message board, so we're free to discuss, assume, judge and sling poo all we want! I mean, it's not like you insulted my boy Kopitar...
At that time I was playing with the idea of "core overhaul" that could, combined with changing the head coach of course, make the Kings more dangerous this season and would also secure our center position long term for the post-Kopitar era.
Adding both Tage and Tuch (on condition he'd resign for a reasonable amount) would mean Byfield going the other way. It would cost a lot even if Tage wasn't deemed untouchable by Sabres and they collapsed and were bottom dwellers again, though. But I was thinking in the line of "win-now" approach and how to do it so the Kings actually...could win. And not just this season (this would be the worst possible season to spend future assets on a rental that then doesn't resign, which is highly likely all things considered).
Anyways, since then I'm much more firmly in the "we need to retool/rebuild" camp and I can't even imagine or play with constructive scenarios about making this team better THIS season anymore...so, the apathy finally kicked in for real!

Trading QB is something I could support though. Last night should have shattered the myth of him being a 1C now or in the future.
Hard to believe anyone could go 1 for 15 in faceoffs. That level of failure even defies chance. One would think a player would get a few lucky bounces… And only Laf was over 50%! Makes Q’s fail look even worse.Trading QB is something I could support though. Last night should have shattered the myth of him being a 1C now or in the future.
Ah, yes, apathy. Well, since you've clarified what you "were" thinking I kind of get it. On paper, I can see it but, in the guess-this-is-us-now stuck with 2026's version of Andy Murray...here we are. Aside, if whomever is the most rambunctious of Kings does in-game push-ups as an F. U., legend status. Why do you keep apologizing? This is a message board, so we're free to discuss, assume, judge and sling poo all we want! I mean, it's not like you insulted my boy Kopitar...
