I don’t think it’s the cash itself anyone is worried about. We know organizations carry insurance for exact instances like this, where a player gets injured, yet they have to continue paying his contract. Ownership has insurance to cover Kevin’s money, so an acquired player costing 7 mill is just a wash in terms of actual dollars.
The point is, to fill that $7.8 million of cap Space, Holland is going to have to trade future assets to bring a player in.. is that really what you want the Kings to be doing at this point? Spending extra future assets(and probably overpaying at that), for a chance to squeak into the playoffs and get bounced in the first round again?
