If they let Luc go (and they should), they should let everyone else go. Holland, Emerson, Murray, the coaching staff, maybe even Yanetti. No holdovers. Just let the new President select his management team and coaching staff and go from there.
Danny B. is never going to do that. Luc (on purpose) made Holland a "poison pill"
Luc kept the coach, but hired a new GM. This allowed Luc to have more people thrown under the bus before they get to him. They are not going to fire Holland one year into his contract....Luc knew this, and it buys him time.
To keep Luc the furthest away from being fired he puts more dominoes in front of him on staggered contracts. It's what "smart" (inept) management does. They are poor managers, but brilliant at deflection.
Fire old GM and hire new GM, but keep old coach. No new GM wants the bad old coach, so Luc knows he won't last, and the firing and hiring of yet another coach is on the new GM's watch. Luc absolves himself of the hiring and firing of the coaching staff leaving it to Holland.
EVERYONE with how understand competent management in sports knows that if you have a bad GM and a bad coach you fire both at the same time and start over with a new GM and his new coach pick.
Inept management only wants to save their skin, so they stagger the positions under staggered contracts.
This is not new to AEG, it's how they run their sports teams.
