A lot of people showed up for Filipino heritage night. That said, I keep hearing that the arena is half empty from some folks in Kings social media circles and that's simply not true. Yes, there are empty seats but while it's not near 18K people most nights, it's not anywhere near 9K. The big issue will be the reported deluge of STM that are not renewing. That's the bread and butter, guaranteed sales, and that's apparently taking a hit. There is also a lot more negative coverage on mainstream media. Those things will cause AEG to raise an eyebrow.

True, but also tickets sold versus butts in seats are two different things.
But remember 44% - 56% of NHL teams revenue is from game day money spent by fans. (tickets, merch, concessions).
So voting with you wallet has an impact.

IMO, this thread should probably be renamed "Fire AEG". Honestly, I think Luc is just a popular figurehead along for the ride to give AEG an air of credibility. He likely has little actual day-to-day input into the hockey decisions made since those decisions defer to the financial bottom line.

Just trying to follow - AEG builds winners with their other franchises but is the reason the Kings are struggling? Last I checked they spent as much money as they are allowed to on players and have eaten, now, two coaching contracts in a row.
Luc is definitely a part of the problem and ultimately bears the responsibility. It's his job to choose the GM, Advisor to the GM and other key positions. He's not just a figurehead or member of the Board of Directors (in corporate terms).

AEG has no issues writing checks. They do spend and spend.
However they really are not interested if the team wins or not.
The management vibe under AEG is basically "Wealthy dad who gives tons of money to his kids, but has no idea what they are doing, and does not care what they do with the money".
That's why the Luc and Rob show went on for so long.

Well said and I can't argue with you there. End of day they are spending the money needed to win, but it really seems like it is all about profit and losses to them.
The increasing financial value of the franchise in the era of inflation and weakening dollar makes this comletely untrue.
The increasing franchise values outweighs any loss even if fans could cause a bigger one.
Financial planners want there money in things other than the dollar there is no freaking way they want billions of dollars, at least right now.

Unfortunately we have an owner who couldn't give 3 craps about the sport. As stated above its all about the money and as long as the team is making it, that is all that matters. Fortunately they believe to make money, you have to put it back into the team, which ownership has been great at. Choosing the right people to run this team is the problem. It is time for Luc to go, his record is pathetic, there is no road this team has a chance to win a Stanley Cup and his latest move was bringing a GM in who was in retirement, PLEASE!!
Getting Panarin was not going to put us over the top by any means, yet we gave up our best prospect on a team that currently has to have one of the worst farm systems in the league, except for goaltending. Yes the Reign lead their division, but are there any players that can really crack an NHL lineup? I think NOT. I see people trying to say what a great deal it was and that Greentree wasn't really that good, trying to justify the deal, for which I call BS. Now we have a aging superstar going to take up 11-12 million a year hit on our salary cap who over the next 2 years and will be 35 years old next season. Not taking anything away from Panarin, who has looking good on the scoreboard, but its not equating in the win column.
The decision to stay with Hiller was ridiculous, it is obvious he is a coach who did not believe in young players and he almost single handedly put Clarke's career in the toilet and got him traded and I will be interested to see how Byfield starts playing without the Hiller handcuffs.
This team needs to find a way to get in young high talent players away from the draft, this may be taking shots on other teams rejects, many times a change of scenery or coaching can be the difference. I think we have some pretty good ex players manning our development department. Just curious would you have given up a 6th round pick for Lukas Reichel former 17th overall pick in 2020 and only 23 years old like the Boston Bruins did? When was the last 6th round pick we had make an impact? These type of players are out there, get the scouting and development departs together and go find a couple

Agree though as much as I was one of Greentree's biggest fans, I don't mind the trade. The Kings are at least fun to watch again, and Panarin is a big part of that.
Really hoping we trade up in this year's draft to grab a couple impact players (using a couple 2nds to grab a 1st, etc). I like where Holland's head seems to be at.
Then add a player like Pettersson over the summer, or sign a FA like Schmaltz, and we will take another step forward.

The other thing about game tickets we’re forgetting about is the visiting fans buying tickets. It doesn’t look good if 1/3 or 1/2 the arena is opposing fans. But if the bottom line is what’s most important maybe they don’t care about that.
