GDT ***Florida Panthers vs. Los Angeles Kings GDT 11/06/25 >>7:00pm<< on ESPN+ & Hulu***

I will wait until Hiller gets fired (20 games in or so?) and assuming an assistant doesn't take over--finally dump cable. The only reason I haven't done it already is dealing with subscriptions.

I know Kopitar will want to stay. But I wonder what we could fetch for Doughty at the deadline
I would only trade Kopitar to a team with a solid chance of winning the Cup. Then again, this is the team that sent Quick to Columbus. (Yes, Quickie did win a Cup that year with Vegas, but only bc the league knew what a travesty the Kings had committed by dumping Quick like that and corrected the injustice. Still sickened by that disgusting and dishonorable move by LA. Quick was the reason we won those Cups. Period.)

I’d be willing to give Toronto a sweetheart deal for Doughty. He was integral to our 2 Cups and has passed over Blake as the best defenseman in Kings history. He’s passed his prime, but playing in his hometown on a team that could use some solid D, it might breathe new life into his game.

Either way, I wouldn’t trade either player to garbage teams (though I believe they both have NTCs). I would only move them to teams they would WANT to go to.

Kopitar can veto any trade so no danger of him going anywhere but a contender. Doughty only allows 7 teams. So to trade DD he has to want out--which I think likely. The good news is the Kings will likely be able to empty virtually the entire roster since the expensive guys like Fiala, Danault, Kuemper, Foegele are unlikely to want to stick around for a rebuild. Perry will want to go to a contender and Kuzy will need to go. That all means a ton of space for cap dumps.

But, we all know mgmt will opt for trading picks/prospects in a desperado attempt to make the playoffs.

Look at the last 3 games this week:

NJ: Dodgers game being shown on the screen. Crowd cheers louder for home runs than goals.
WINNIPEG: No baseball - shut out the Jets. Complete game.
FLA: Dodgers bring their shiny new trophy to the game. Kings have more turnovers than goals.

IN CONCLUSION: Keep baseball outta the Kings house.

I was lucky enough to turn off the TV after the second. Just watched NHL on the fly and saw the debacle. I just hope the Kings brass allows other teams to overpay for these players, that they will be trading at the deadline. At this point, I am good with any player being traded. They better get a nice haul for Kempe.

I am guessing Hiller will go first. I know people have said it, and it is painful to say, however, they are playing some fun, exciting, fresh winning hockey in Anaheim. They took their lumps over the past five or so years, however, that is all in the past.
