went to the pub on friday.
their food isn't all that remarkable. i really just wanted a pint of belhaven scottish ale. i'd had their trifle a few years ago and it was probably the worst trifle i'd ever had, which is pretty amazing given that trifle is often made with leftover cake bits.
after coming here for almost 10 yrs, something finally told me to have the sticky toffee pudding and when i did, my mouth was like omigoshers. i'd already taken a few bites before i decided to snap a pic...

the olde ship. santa ana, ca.

then my neighbor went fishing this weekend and gave us this giant piece of yellowtail.

which i turned into ceviche (red, yellow, jalapeno peppers + cilantro + lime + coconut milk) and fish tacos. that's a michelada on the side.

Made crab stuffed sole last night. Set it on the table percolating like mad around the edges and reached behind me to get the iphone, not two seconds later turned around and lil' miss patience had gouged a massive serving and had it headed to her plate. I made her put it back in gently for the picture. Hence the Frankenstein scar. It was f'n divine btw.

bone marrow and escargot. i'm actually bummed they added the escargot. it's a good appetizer without the snails and most of time, i either feel like roasted marrows OR escargot, but not both. also, this didn't come with garlic butter parsley sauce, which i HAVE to have to really enjoy them.

entrec?te frites. (basically, a real fancy aged rare steak frites).

i also had a lemon tart for dessert but it was super busy at the restaurant causing service to be a giant clusterf*** so i was in no mood to snap anymore photos, heh.

I really wish it was Instagram-type easy to post pics from a mobile.

ya, sometimes it takes me a while to post because i have to upload it to photobucket first. pain in the ass. but i like looking at other peoples' pics of food and i guess i should post some offerings so they aren't the only ones...
posting any pics from my phone (even non-instagram ones) is yucky though. at first they'd come up great but something happened with the lgk app now where the photos are ginormous. i don't even look at 80% of peoples' photos if i have to scroll to see the right side of it.

Trop de viande!

I think that's right. see_stars:

My French is bad. ;)

But anyways, I like to see the French pastries here. And I am vegetarian, not vegan, so I love French cheese! :D

mais non, c'est tr?s bien orphy.

mmm... pastries. one of my achilles heels...
cheese is another...

i was almost vegetarian yesterday and today, but i had bacon in my corn chowder. always something... that tofu and rice dish i made earlier was almost vegan if not for the fish sauce used to season it.

BP Oysterette in Santa Monica serves both the Connecticut style (no mayo, only butter, served warm) lobster roll and the Maine style (with mayo, served cold) lobster roll.
