After picking up a win earlier this week in Henderson, the Ontario Reign are preparing to host the Iowa Wild at Toyota Arena on Friday, in what will be the first half of a back-to-back weekend series.
It’s a rare matchup between the two Western Conference clubs, as they last played each other nearly five years ago. Reign coach Marco Sturm, at least his club is coming in with a little momentum. In addition to securing a 2-1 victory against the Silver Knights, their efforts were bolstered by the return of Charles Hudon on the top line (he had been away for a few weeks while at a tournament in Europe with Team Canada). Tonight, defenseman Jakub Dvorak is expected to rejoin Sturm’s lineup. The 6-foot-5 Kings prospect is coming off of earning a bronze medal with Czechia at the just completed World Junior Championships.
One thing that remains in question, though, is the status of rookie Aatu Jamsen. He’s been sidelined with an injury for several weeks, and no timetable for his return has been established.
Looking to the other bench, Iowa’s roster features forward Graeme Clarke — older brother of Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke. The 6-foot winger has eight points (6G, 2A) in 24 AHL games this season.
ICYMI – Sammy Fagemo was named to the AHL All-Star Classic, which will be held in Coachella Valley at the end of this month.
