It’s finally here!

Game one of LA’s six-game preseason slate will take place in Utah later this evening. As expected, Salt Lake City native Trevor Lewis is set to be part of the Kings starting lineup (and we’ll assume serve as team captain). He’ll be joined by a mix of vets, AHL players, and prospects to round out coach Jim Hiller’s squad.

Much of what the Kings have planned this week was laid out in an article last night:

On the other side of the ice will be a Utah team playing their second game in as many nights, and their first in the actual state of Utah.

Statistically Speaking

— It’s Game One, no actual stats yet. However, when the Utah team was in Arizona last year, LA took all three regular season games. For the most part, that isn’t relative because (a) Utah is being considered more like an expansion team, in that they aren’t keeping any of the Coyotes historical information and (b) their lineup tonight won’t be the same NHL roster from last season.

Kings Projected Lineup vs. Utah HC

The following players are confirmed for the trip to Utah, we’ve aligned them using some of what Hiller has been showing during camp thus far. Subject to change.

Turcotte – Thomas – Lewis
Lee – Helenius – Ward
Hudon – Pinelli – Fagemo
Greentree – Studnicka – Malott

Edmundson – Clarke
England- Burroughs
Moverare – Jones

Portillo (starter)
George

Possible scratches: none

Key Game Info

Across the Ice

Utah defeated St. Louis 5-3 last night in Iowa. Here is how UHC was aligned for that contest:

Except some changes to that group for the game tonight. Perhaps Jaxson Stauber, the son of former Kings goalie Rob Stauber, even gets the start in net.

Utah head coach André Tourigny has scheduled his team for a morning skate at 10:30 am local. Lineup info may become clearer following that on-ice session.

On This Day in Kings History

On September 23, 1995, the @LAKings and New York Rangers met in Las Vegas for the second time in four years. Wayne Gretzky had two points, and the #LAKings came back from a three-goal deficit to defeat the Rangers, 6-4, before 8,070 fans at the Thomas & Mack Center.#GoKingsGo pic.twitter.com/HHnlSpxVue
