For the first time in hockey history, the LA Kings and Utah HC will meet up on the ice Saturday night. After being shutout in Game 1 of their opening contest at the 2024 Rookie Faceoff event, some were quick to point out that the squad coach Marco Sturm had at his disposal had largely never played together before, and in fact only had two practices prior to starting the tournament. However, that didn’t seem to stop the Ducks from scoring four goals, or the Avalanche and Sharks each potting three each earlier in the day on Friday.
Utah fell to San Jose 3-2 in the opening game on Friday, so both clubs will be looking to even up their records.
Of note, Utah will be wearing their white ‘road’ jerseys for the first time ever.
Looking ahead to tonight’s matchup, Greentree said, “I thought we all played well [on Friday}. It was just a two-goal game, that’s kind of how it goes sometimes. I think we’ll come back ready, for sure.”
Fellow prospect Koehn Ziemmer, who was linemates with Greentree on Friday, told Mayor’s Manor he’s ready to turn the page following the team’s 2-0 loss in Game 1.
“We played that one team and we’re never going to see them again, so you just bottle that feeling [of coming up short],” he said. “Next up is a different team, and hopefully a different result.”
