Out of over 500,000 student-athletes attending NCAA schools, fewer than 10 are transgender, NCAA President Charlie Baker said during a congressional hearing.

In mathematical terms it's .002% of all NCAA athletes.

Clearly this is a MASSIVE issue, that we need a Presidential Council with members of the NHL community to address.


Meanwhile plenty of research showing the affects (see loss of perceived advantage in athletics) of gender affirming hormone therapy on transwomen athletes abounds....and continues to be researched.


But hey, somebody has to do something about this.
Those evil advantage taking .002% of athletes trans people must be stopped!
Won't somebody think of the integrity of sports?!?!?

Thankfully Gretzky will help out our nation in this time of peril!!!!

Yea, well to be honest, that would not do much.
The league is chasing the $$$ they know their demo./market.

The idea is absurd to go after .002% of athletes, and frame it like it's a massive problem.
On its face it's laughable.
It's a distraction - scapegoat tactic.
"Bread and circuses" for those so inclined to gobble it up.

I hear ya, but I'm not "fired up".

Rather, I hate hypocrisy.
When the league was trying to sell "inclusion" for years with "Hockey is for Everyone"....then pivots to "get yer politics out of my hockey" (see axing Pride Night Jerseys)....then now pivots to joining the march against trans-people..... it's pretty disgusting. All the while still acting as if "Hockey is for Everyone" is still what they believe.

It's a blatant corporate cash grab at the expense of throwing "unliked or untolerated" people in our society under the bus. People be damned at the expense of corporate greed.

It's astounding that in the information age easy political wedge issues still work.
