Great Playoff Games in LA Kings history

2012 Playoffs - Round 1, Game 5 @ Vancouver. The game was a back and forth chess match from the opening minute to the final seconds of OT. The quintessential playoff war ended in what would become the trademark LA Kings style, turnover caused by a high pressure forecheck. This was the real start of the Kings Cup Runs and it was the end of the Sedin-era Canucks.

Tomorrow will be twenty-four years since my ultimate Kings birthday gift:

The first "great" playoff game in Kings history was probably Game 6 against Boston in 1976. Butch Goring scored the OT goal about 18 min. in. In addition, the Kings had to score two late goals to tie it. It was excruciating listening to that on the radio.

Classic Kings Goal - Butch Goring

Not the greatest but the most epic was watching jazz hands score the gwg. Had a feeling during g the rush up ice. Im.on the stanley bup dvd and the black and white season 10 episode 5 for that moment

After Stollie scored that goal, I knew in my heart and as sure as the sun coming up the next day, and after being a King’s fan for 41 years at that point, that we would finally be lifting that beautiful, shiny Cup. It was quite a feeling following that year’s team after that series. Truly the best King’s memories, team, etc and to this day.

Like, really, what team in any sport goes 10-0 in its first ten road playoff games? Quickie stood on his head. And just too many other amazing aspects of this run to mention here and now.

GKG! Beat the Oilers!!

Sweeping the Blues in 2012 was pretty epic on the way to the first cup.

We made them quit. They had no answers. Hitchcock even said it in the regular season
that if we got it together 'no one could beat that team.' Smart man. I know '14 was amazing
but, to me, '12 was divinity.
