January’s trade did nothing to slow down any momentum Carter George has been building this season in the OHL. A move from Owen Sound to Sault Ste. Marie early last month has seen the 19-year-old netminder post a 5-1-2 record with the Greyhounds and look just as sharp as he did with Team Canada at the recent World Junior Championship.

Highlights from Sunday’s contest, where George stopped 37-of-39 shots faced (.949 save percentage):

George earned Performer of the Month honors for his stellar play throughout the month of January.

His plans for next season are in flux at the moment. With the current rules in place, he’s expected to play for AHL Ontario. However, if several rule changes are pushed through in the months ahead, there’s quietly talk behind the scenes that he could be bound for Boston College.

Meanwhile, Liam Greentree, LA’s first round selection at the 2024 NHL Draft, may be showing signs of emerging from a slightly slow start to January. Upon returning from the World Juniors, the Windsor forward recorded only one goal in his first four contests (a very un-Greentree like stretch). Now, over his past four games, he’s scored four goals and recorded 14 SOG.
