Hodgson hit on Stone. Clean?

Realistically, if a perennial AHL'er did that to Kopi in pre-season I have to think our fanbase would not be very happy about it.

BUT.....keep your head up, man!!
Stone and the team reacted out on the ice. That should have been enough. They started to take runs a Reign players and were hacking and whacking the rest of the game. Message sent, and the stupid refs let them get away with a lot of stuff. So, saying that stuff at the end of the game was just a childish play. I do not think Kopi would stoop to such lows....... Also, has Kopi ever thrown a cheap shot of his own? We all know Stone is a more physical player. Do not pretend like this is some high skilled guy who does not play with an edge or gets nasty at times. Screw that punk biatch.

Also, what Stone tried to do, and did to Clarke was BS. You cannot have it both ways. He grabs Clarke (who was not even involved in the play) by the chin straps and tries to goad him into a fight. Only because he was the best player on the ice for the other team. He cries that the hit was not appropriate, what about his response towards Clarke?

He is a freaking punk IMO. There was something about him that I never really liked. Now, I know my instincts were correct.

Kings should troll the Knights by calling up Hodgson JUST to play against them. ;)

Hit was clean. Like others have probably already mentioned... it's a combination of rookies trying to make an impression vs someone who won a Cup and just wanted to take it easy for Pre-Season.

In what universe is that NOT a clean hit? Seriously, he just had the puck less than a second before the hit. Stone's an absolute cry baby and I'm glad he's getting roasted on twitter.

Obviously I'm a Kings fan but my problem with the hit and I usually love those type of hits is that Stone never really possessed the puck. I could see both sides of the play as Stone is pissed with 2 back surgeries under his belt and Hodgson trying to make the team doing a hit that rarely happens in a pre season game. Either way it did spice up the game and to me I really hope if Clarke makes the team they pair him with a Gudas type as teams are going to go after him mark my words.

I've seen the water in Crater Lake and it's as clean as it gets. Plus, Stone tried to pile on after two guys were already on Hodgson. He tried to jump over the top, which can be dangerous. So yeah, protect your Captain. I get that. But the hit was clean. I didn't know Stone to be a dirty player before this, so guessing this will probably pass.

But, Kings have definitely lacked some physicality in the years since the Cup runs. Need a little more of that for sure.

I wish we had signed Gudas, not the f***ing Ducks. Exactly the kind of grit we sure could use, a la Greene, Mitchell, Regehr, etc.

Steve Dangle’s pod today has a great segment on this incident. Says a King has to fight Stone after those comments/Clarke wrangling or else the whole league will lose respect for LA and they’ll be right.

Though he’s woefully wrong in saying it needs to be Doughty (how does he not know he doesn’t fight?) the truth hurts when he says it’s a short list who can stand up to Stone. Then the kicker is when he says as a Leafs fan he’s well qualified to talk about a “chicken sh*t team who gets punked by everyone.” OUCH!

Jesse (Dangle show) was right in saying Englund would be the best option to fight, but who knows if he’ll even make it. Made me think. He’s not a fighter but PLD has a definite edge and I’m again reminded of one of the more important upsides to that trade. Plus I still do hope Englund shows he can play. Clarke or Spence both need him.

I mean I know we are tight up against the cap but Gudas would have been perfect to pair with Clarke. We are a pretty soft team so even a flyer on a guy like Kassian I would have been ok with. The last 2 playoff series we were bullied by Edmonton and although I understand why we had to get rid of Lemieux his presence was valuable when he played on the line and not over it. Teams will run Clarke all night if we don't have a deterrent and I don't even mean fighting necessarily but a guy who can stick up for incidents just like the Stone situation.

The poor kid was a bit doe-eyed when Stone grabbed him by the collar.

Just read an article that even Brad Marchand didn't see a problem with it & more or less took Hodgsons side.

Can't seem to link it but it was on Boston Hockey Now with a video also.

Yep, but I think the fact that Stone grabbed his helmet strap and was pulling his helmet down and forcing Clarke's head into his shoulders made it look worse. It has been a while since I have played and worn a helmet, but I do not remember the padding being all the comfy in those helmets.

So, Stone gets upset and has no issue going after the opponent's best player on the ice. Even if he is a 20 year old. What a tough guy.

I get being intimidated but trust me as you know there will be a lot tougher guys than Stone roughing him up so the Kings better get a Gudas type to ride shotgun with him or the kid will have a very long season. Can you imagine what Tom Wilson would have done?

Clean hit on a player (Stone) who was (almost undersandably) trying to have a nice recreational practice hockey game - not realizing the other squad was there to play. I say it was settled on the ice, leave it there, don't be a super douche after.

I think the comments he had about the incident with the press were very ill advised and childish. Calling a perennial AHL player "not much of a player" is hard douchery and bragging as a 30+ year old man (f*** I'm older than him and he looks 15 years older than me) about scaring a 20 year old new to the league was even worse, but I digress.
