Could Corey Perry really be on the move again? After spending the first 14 years of his career as a staple of the Anaheim Ducks, the veteran winger has bounced around the league throughout the back half of his career, suiting up for six different teams over the past eight seasons.
Perry joined team number six — the Los Angeles Kings — this offseason, though things haven’t exactly gone according to plan in Southern California, with the club sitting on the outside of the playoff picture in early March. As a result, insider Frank Seravalli believes GM Ken Holland should approach Perry about a potential trade before the deadline to give him another shot at a Stanley Cup.
Seravalli said:
The 40-year-old is a pending UFA in the first and only year of the one-year, $2 million contract he signed with the Kings this summer. As Seravalli noted, despite his age, Perry remains productive, with 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) through 48 games in 2025-26.

Seravalli and host John Buccigross of the Frankly Hockey show went on to speculate about landing spots, suggesting that virtually any team in playoff position could make sense for the potential future Hall of Famer.
At just $2 million — and possibly even less if Los Angeles were to retain salary — nearly every contender could afford him. It also shouldn’t cost too much in terms of a return package, which are often the two biggest obstacles for buyers at the trade deadline.
MoneyPuck still gives the Kings a 35.3% chance of making the postseason, but even if they do, that likely means a first-round series against the juggernaut Colorado Avalanche. Never say never, but all things considered, trading a veteran on an expiring contract like Perry could be in the best interest of everyone involved.

“The first thing I’d be doing this week is calling Corey Perry and saying, ‘Hey, if we lose a couple of games here, would you like to go somewhere?’ Cash in on whatever that you can… I’m looking at Corey Perry and saying that’s a guy that’s had a ton of playoff success… This guy has been really productive, all things considered given his age and the experience factor. I’m trying to send him to a place where he has another opportunity to win,”
