Yes, he definitely stepped up his game. And when a player's game shows significant improvement in the playoffs, you have to sit up and take notice. I can't think of one other King who played better in the playoffs. And he still only 23, which is so young for a defenseman. Willie Mitchell and Rob Scuderi didn't even have a regular NHL job until 25-26. Spence is likely to keep improving for several more years and has skills you just can't teach.This is true for the majority of the season for Spence. I believe it was a result of having to babysit his very limited partner all season. He came in playing things as safely as possible. But I saw a distinct change in his game as the playoffs approached and then once the playoffs started his game soared. I thought he was excellent against the Oilers. He showed real flashes of a Top 4 dman.
