I'm basing my prediction on what I have seen lately with a couple of teams in the Pacific. I also base my prediction on UFA's signing in LA. The last time the Ducks made the playoffs was in 2017-2018 around 8 seasons ago. They did a complete rebuild and now they are finally being rewarded. I believe Holland realizes now that the retool is not going to work, however, that is all he can do in the next two seasons. I'm not saying he won't put out a team that is not competitive out on the ice, however, that is all they will be, a middle of the pack non playoff team. Someone will have to pull the plug and hit rock bottom like the Ducks and Sharks did about 7 years ago.

The Sharks might not make the playoffs this season and they have been in the midst of a complete rebuild and they have one of the best players in the world on their team. When the Sharks defense comes together, they will be in the playoff mix for many years to come.

Teams are not really doing full rebuilds that last a decade or so anymore.

They saw how many seasons and how much revenue it cost the D and the Buf.

Even with your clarifications , to say a team won't make the playoffs for 8 years is ballsy.
