I was wondering about that. Why is his AAV so much more higher than the "norm" of what seems to be about 700k for the entry level rookies?

It’s a 2 way contract. Meaning he’s most likely never going to see the full value. To get him to play in Ontario sooner rather than later the AHL salary ($82,500) has to be more attractive than the salary he’s making staying in Czechia.

Bjornfot is a 1 way contract meaning he’s getting the full $775,000 whether he plays in the NHL or AHL.

Thomas got a 2 way with an AHL salary of $100,000.
