Longtime NHL broadcaster John Kelly has been named the @LAKings' lead play-by-play announcer on @FanDuelSN_West, and he’ll be joined in the booth this season by long time Kings analyst Jim Fox. In addition to Fox, former Kings Tony Granato, Ray Ferraro and Jarret Stoll are each set to fill the analyst role for select telecasts. The local home for Kings hockey for 40 years, @FanDuelSN_West is set to televise and stream 68 regular season games during the 2025-26 season, plus two preseason matchups.

I get that. But we're talking about the Kings who have seemingly been in cost cutting mode the past few years. Getting a solid announcer, and son of one of the all-time legends, seems out of character. I really thought we would just promote Josh to TV.
It looks like Josh is the long term plan. For now, the strategy seems for his to gain experience for a few years while Kelly holds the fort as his career winds down.

I posted this the moment I heard that St Louis had let him go. I am absolutely over the moon about this hiring. He is one of the top 3-4 in the whole league at what he does, and now he works for us. It's a great day.

I used to travel to St. Louis often and enjoyed how Kelly called games. This is a positive move if Fox doesn’t F it up. That chemistry will be interesting to watch

Just give Kelly his own button that controls Fox's mic "cough" button.

That way when Fox rambles on and on, nobody on the broadcast side has to hear him, and Kelly can talk right over him.
