It’s certainly nothing to sound a major alarm over, yet the Kings winning their third straight game on Saturday marks a first for their 2024-25 campaign. With a need for greater consistency constantly being preached by coach Jim Hiller, it seems the message is finally getting through.

After a loss last Monday, a game that’s already been dissected at length, the Kings have done everything possible to distance themselves with what happened in San Jose. In fact, it’s been a pretty remarkable four day stretch they’ve just put together. LA dominated the league’s top team (Winnipeg) on Wednesday, saw Erik Portillo earn a victory in his NHL debut at Anaheim on Friday, followed by a redemption win over Ottawa on Saturday.

Perhaps the only bummer on the evening was Trevor Lewis only getting two shifts before suffering a lower body injury. He’s most likely going to miss several weeks of action. More on that front won’t be known until after team doctors get a chance to look over his MRI in the coming days.

In the aforementioned win over the Jets, Alex Laferriere noted it was the team’s start that served as a primary catalyst to their success. The second-year pro was back at it in this one, scoring soon after puck drop in the opening frame.

Kevin Fiala later tied the game at 2-2, before Anze Kopitar converted on a spectacular baseball-style goal to put LA out in front 3-2. Additional markers from Adrian Kempe (power play) and Trevor Moore (empty net) rounded out the scoring.

Lineup Notes: Moore returned to the lineup after sitting out Friday’s contest with flu-like symptoms. Hiller put him up on the top line with Kopitar and Kempe; a move that also saw Alex Turcotte placed on the fourth line with Lewis and Sammy Helenius.
