Kempe Contract Watch Thread

Both Eichel (especially) and Connor took a discount, and Kempe is a better player than Connor. He's played on a discounted contract for a long time, he's not taking another. With the market the way it is now, an all-star level wing is probably worth $13-$14M.

‘Very typical of the Kings to try screwing their best player’?? wtf are you even talking about?

You must have a few examples of the Kings screwing their best players if it’s so typical….go ahead and enlighten me.
My point was - given the opportunity to make a decision, this management group will make the wrong one. Thanks for playing…

He wasn't on a discounted contract, he was on a contract based on his performance to the point of when he signed that extension - that's how it works.

Give me comparables of similar forwards in this range you are claiming.

Connor and Kaprizov are the only two recent ones which have any real bearing on this discussion. Kaprizov took everything he could get, Connor did not. Eichel is less relevant as a Center, but still has some bearing as it is widely believed he could get quite a bit more as a UFA. Kempe fits between the two wings, assuming he won't want to give a discount off what he could get as a UFA.

You think Kempe falls between 17 and 12 mil? If yes...you are f***ing delusional. No offense.

That’s silly. Negotiations like that are confidential. But the result was a clear management failure to ice the best possible roster.
What’s stupid is assuming the reason he’s gone is due to management failure. When you got proof, get back to me.
