The Mayor is full of sh*t. Mayor is one rung higher on the ladder than an E5 rumor.

it’s funny that people still think these established insiders are making stuff up. Those days are long gone. These guys are fed information for strategic purposes.

When the Mayor gives out info he’s generally being fed that info by someone in the Kings front office or someone connected to the Kings organization. It’s really that simple.

When someone like Pagnotta gives out info he’s generally getting it from an agent or someone aligned with the player’s interests. It’s really that simple. Now it does get a little more complicated with a national rumor monger like Pagnotta because a team can use him to launder info as well because he has influence and reach.

So take all these leaks with a grain of salt and understand the info isn’t made up. It’s weaponized.

Think about what the Mayor is leaking from a 15K foot view. He’s conveying the message “don’t worry. The Kings front office has got this covered. It’s almost done. Trust these guys. They’re really competent.” That’s his role. That’s why he gets the access he does.

Hm, I do not recall seeing anywhere in this thread where someone stated that these guys "make stuff" up. Yep, they are fed misinfo, has been that way for a while. Seems that the Mayor's reporting to a big dive when Dean left the org.
 
A couple of nice words about Kempe from Sportsnet:

Wake up old man Holland, just pay the man!!

And then unfortunately this part from the same source that makes you wanna throw up:

Could easily see Holland doing something absolute idiotic like Kempe for Barzal...

When Kempe, if traded...needs to be the keystone for the rebuild...3-4 prime controllable assets, the Rantannen deal is a good comp.
 
If I'm Kempe, I'm the one choosing to drag this out longer to wait and see where this team goes. I wouldn't want to stick around for another rebuild. Dude will get paid but just flounder here wasting his talent. I would not be surprised that when, not if, the Kings are out of it, he's gets traded for assets.

I believe that trading Kempe has been the front office plan all along. With Kopi gone and a clearly diminished Doughty, they are going to attempt a retool, not a full rebuild.

That makes no sense. They brought in an old GM, on a short contract, in an effort to drag this team across the finish line. Delusional or not, that's the plan. If they wanted to retool, Holland would be the last guy they'd bring in to do it. And, if you're retwing instead of rebuilding, the last thing you do is trade your best player. you only do that if you're in full rebuild mode.

I am not saying retooling makes sense. That's just my speculation given Luc's past history.

All I am saying is that it has been Holland's plan has been to trade Kempe. Maybe it will be in a package for a 1C? I have said earlier that I fear Holland is creating his own PLD trade.

You have a point. Kings management has made a lot of moves over the past few years that one could argue make little sense.
